One of our friendly strays has very bad waxy ears, cat is around 7 and never had her ears cleaned in her life. Her coloring is black so I never noticed if wax was inside, until I got a tiny mag light and dear god the entire inside if the ear is wet looking and I have noticed pea sized chunks of blackish-brown wax coming out and clear fluid. The cat hates her ears touched, and over the years is meowing all the time. I had another cat like this and it turned out he had slight deafness due to ear infections never treated in the past. Being she's a stray outside even though she's friendly there's little I can do to keep her ears clean but I'm hoping to bring her into a vet for strays and get ears cleaned and if she has an infection get a shot of antibiotics. I feel so bad for my strays its not fair they have to live with medical issues because they are forced to live outside. :(

She could well have ear mites, but if you can get her to a vet they can look in her ears properly and give the right treatment.

That's also what I was thinking. Now being she never was examined before, do you think the vets can handle her enough to clean her ears, or do they sedate?

How knows until they try?  But they are used to handling cats, and I imagine a vet nurse will help if necessary.  Hope you have a secure carrier to get the cat there.  Good luck.

They may have to sedate them. They had to sedate my little  Zoë before shaving her. Poor kid. It's better for them to be as calm as possible. And best for them to get treatment! Good luck. :D
