Hey Guys,
I have 2 cats, both are 2 yrs old, and one of them has been squinting his right eye only. The eye isn't irritated all of the time, though. Lately, it will look that way for a few days in a row, and only ever 6 weeks or so. However, sometimes his eye won't get irritated for a few months at a time. There is a tannish colored discharge coming from it but I never see him pawing at his eye or acting uncomfortable (he is a little "slow" though). I have been putting Earth Animal's "Vision" eyedrops, which is an "organic herbal remedy" as listed on the label, and it always seem to help his eye get 95% better for about a day and then I have to re-apply. My other cat shows no symptoms whatsoever, which makes me wonder if the eye irritation is an allergy that only one has and not the other. I can't really say that I have noticed a pattern between his eye and the seasons though so i'm not sure if it would be a seasonal allergy. I also wonder if it could be the Feline Herpes Virus...because it only seems to happen every few weeks and for only a few days at a time, it makes me think he could be having a feline herpes "outbreak".
Has anyone else experienced this with their cats? I don't really think it's worth a trip to the vet, especially since I never see him scratching at it or looking uncomfortable. It also looks much better after the eye drops, although still not 100% back to normal. Any advice would be much appreciated.
