Nothing to apologize for.

It really helps me to know people here understand and helps me to know what I might expect. Thank you.

I can still get a bit of food into her and hopefully the pred will stimulate a bit of an appetite. Right now she's playing with a huge chunk of dried fish from her Secret Santa. I'll just do what she needs me to do until she tells me to stop. Like your Tolly, the only thing Freya really struggled with was losing her Cotton. He was the only cat who ever seemed to understand her and she really loved him. I know he'll be waiting for her.

Thanks everyone.

She spent the evening playing with her siblings and glaring at Mike if he looked like he was hovering over her too much. I brought her to bed last night...I think the stairs are a bit too much effort for her right now, so I carried her up and she slept on my hip all night. (I'm kinda cramped because I didn't want to move her - she looked so comfy) I got her to eat a half a can of tuna for breakfast. Not a great breakfast, I know, but she ate it and LOVED it and at this point I care about happy, not long term health...if that means the cat equivalent of letting her eat ice cream for every meal, I can live with that.

It's interesting to watch the cat dynamics shift. Freya's always been "in charge" of the cats, but she's handed power over to Wendel. When they sit on the stairs, he sits on the higest one now instead of under her. He mimics things she always did and seems so serious about stuff that used to be her thing - like making sure we go to bed, or get up when the alarm goes off, or meeting us at the door. She's just kicking back and chillin' like she acknowledges that none of that is her responisibility anymore.

Awww..... :heart2: A changing of the guard. Bittersweet. But it's nice she's got someone to take over for her.

And exactly what Lauren said! Let her eat whatever she wants. :D I bet you had a giant smile watching her really love her tuna! :) :heart2:

.... and :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

Yeah I did. Especially when she hopped up and tried to bat the bowl out of my hand before I even put it down.

...and you'll never guess what I let her have for dinner.

I love these stories, keep sharing them! Soo glad she is enjoying her tuna, and taking it easy, letting Wendall rule the roost. Changing dynamics are always so interesting.

Keep telling us, I love reading them.

It pains me to read these stories because I know how sad it makes you feel.

But it also helps me, too.  Background information, solace, for when the unthinkable happens to Ritz.

Today was a pretty normal day, except for the limited food intake. I wish she'd eat a bit more, but I know better than to hold out for that - we had 1/3 of a can of tuna for breakfast and a little bit of boiled chicken for dinner.

Most of today was spent playing in the basement. I lost her down there twice. almost 8 years and she can still find places that we can't find in our tiny, sparsely furnished basement. I'll never figure out where she gets to. we also played a few hours of video games tonight. It might sound silly, but it's kind of our thing. Mike's worked a lot of night shift and overtime in the past year, so I curl up on the couch with my headset and Freya curls up on my feet because she knows I won't be moving for a bit. We played a good 3 hours of DCUO tonight. She's so little and light that if I get into a game I don't notice her moving until she bumps my hand with her head for attention. I've gotten really good at playing with on hand and leaving one hand on her. I get he hand back for boss fights and she get her face rubbed during cut-scenes. It's our compromise.

Currently she;s decided that Mike does not need to get up from the couch, regardless of what he might think.

I'm very sorry to hear about Freya's diagnosis, but I'm glad she's still able to enjoy her time with you. Vibes to your family:
