Hi guys, I'm living in Dubai and involved in animal rescue over here. We have a lot of arabian maus (newly recognised cat breed from arabian peninsula) here which difficult to find homes here in UAE as there are so many cats and not enough homes. I was thinking if there will be some people who would be intrested to adopt arabian mau. I beleive it is still not a very common breed in Europe. Please let me know if anybody intrested. Thank you.

I imagine it's pretty difficult and costly to ship a cat to another country, isn't it?  Well, if someone wants this special breed, hopefully they will be wiling and able to pay those costs. Good luck in finding them homes.

Can you Marina describe a little more how you do organize this "export"?   I mean, as you do specialize on rescuing these Arabian Mau (and look alike them too I presume), your adopters do fancy having this unusual Arabian Mau.

Otherwise, they can adopt practically any homeless cat for less effort and less costs. There is no shortage of homeless cats in Europe nor America, both semiferal and  tame being astray.

So, do you do a vet check up before you send away? Vet treatments?  A quarantee it IS one of these Arabian Mau, and not just  "anybody cat" from street?   Are they tame, just short socialization to the family needed, or is the adopter supposed to do all the usual semiferal fostering?   Etc...

I presume they are not spayed, as spaying is not common in Arabian countries? (feks, in Saudia it is more or less forbidden, we had been told by rescuers living in Saudi).

I mean, for someone who wants to be early on the train of a new pedigree breeding, many of these questions perhaps dont matter much, as long they are sure it is Arabian Mau they got.

But for folks who above all wants to have a rescued home pet, where them having a breed and interesting story to tell is just a nice bonus - these questions are important.

Welcome to our Forums!

Good luck!

Ps. I did googled a little on Arabian Mau, I saw this breed is now recognized as you say, although just with a smaller European Cat Registry.

With reference to Arabian Maus, my daughter just arrived home from Kuwait with four rescued Arabian Mau cats (they are three years old).  She was a teacher in Kuwait and is on her way to Finland for her next assignment.  She will be taking two of the Maus with her to Finland, and we are trying to find the other two good homes.  They have been neutered, all shots and microchipped.  One of them is black with white markings on his tummy and gorgeous golden eyes and his brother is "Turkish Van" style (white with a black toupee and black tail).  The black and white one has light green eyes.  They have been socialized since they were kittens.  My daughter rescued them from a rooftop in Kuwait where they were left to die.  These are gorgeous cats, both male, with loveable personalities.  They are true to the breed with large ears, and long legs.  Until she arrived home with them, I had never seen an example of this breed.  I would keep them myself, but I already have two cats and am disabled.  Is there anyone out there in Texas or close by who would be interested?  They are not for sale, but would be available upon a donation to our local animal shelter, "ARF."

I lived in Kuwait for 5 years and brought my street cat home with me.  He recently passed away and I would love to take these.  I am guessing that they are already gone, but I will be in Texas the first of the year.  I live outside College Station.  Pls PM me.

Hi Lynnhagan, Sorry I just saw your post. Sorry for the loss of your cat. If you are still interested in adopting a cat/kitten from UAE  we can arrange it and send to USA.  There are so many friendly cats over here and often overlooked by people simply because there are much more cat in need of a home then people willing to adopt.

Hello Stefan Z, sorry did not come back on this forum for a while, just read your message. Of course, my main goal is to find good homes for cats and kittens here in UAE.  I mentioned Arabian Mau just because people might get a bit more interested as it is a new and uncommon breed in Europe. Though I fully agree that the most important to get homeless abandoned cat into a nice forever home. It is not my main activity to rehome cats/dogs but in my free time I'm trying to help strays in UAE.  Cats are exported with all vaccinations which recorded in the vet passport. In the UAE it is not prohibited to fix animals and we send our rescues speyed and fixed. Why I came to this forum. because sometimes  some random people from Europe via FB come across rescue groups in UAE and adopt from here. These Arabian cats are not much different from any other cats, they make the same loving pets. Of course we rehome only friendly cats either abandoned adults or kittens which were rescued in the age of 3-4 weeks and converted from feral to domesticated. Feral cats normally released after speyeing. At the moment we have rescued two 3 weeks old kittens male and female tabby and I'm looking for a good loving forever home/homes for them either in UAE or abroad. If any one will be interested in adopting  please email me on PM me. We also have quite a few Persian cats looking for homes, they are under 2 years old friendly past pets. Many cats and dogs get abandoned here because a lot of expats when leaving the country not willing to take their pets with them and discard them either bring to clinics to put them down.
