Hi all!! I am an American living in the Philippines. Just got our daughter a new cat for Christmas. We have two outdoor cats that belong to everyone on our street. In the states we lived in the country, had several outdoor cats and two indoor cats, so we love our kitties!! Anyway, my daughter fell in love with this beauty we found for free at the pet store, she is 4-5 months old and we believe she is 1/2 calico 1/2 siamese, any other ideas? She was a little scared at first, kept hiding, but never hissed. She is extremely affectionate and really acclimating much quicker than I expected. Looking forward to swapping cat "tails" with everyone!

Thanks!!  We lived in Manila for about a year before moving to another island here, and we had gotten her a kitten there, but we had to give it away before we moved here, so we have owed her a cat for a couple of years.  We kind of wanted a cute little furry kitten, but she did fall in love with this one, and it seems she is going to be a fantastic cat!!

I hope this isn't a repeat reply, it seems my last one disappeared when I hit "submit".  Anyway, Thanks!!  This cat seems like she is going to be a fantastic addition to our household, and a wonderful companion for our daughter.

We have had our new cat for about a week and she is doing great!!  Our daughter aptly named her "Athena".  We have been keeping her restricted to our daughter's bedroom since she was easily frightened and is still somewhat pensive when we walk into the room.  She does come to us now, and rubs against us, rolls on the floor and is very affectionate, but is still a little nervous to noises or new people.  We have a mini pin that really wants to be friends with her, and we have put the dog in his cage in the living room and left the door open of the room where the cat is so she could come out on her own.  She has come out and checked out the kitchen, come into the living room and came within 2 feet of the dog in his cage.  No hissing or barking at all, so I think that is good. But she quickly retreats back to the safety of her room. We are doing this once or twice a day. Just wondering if this is the right approach or should we be doing something else to introduce them?  We are just trying to be respectful of her need for security. Thanks!!
