Hello, we have 2 kittens (well, one is 15 months, but still a kitten)and the other is 9 months...here is their rigorous schedule down to the minutes...

4:30 am wake up with daddy (for he is off to work)...both kittens play from 4:30 am until 6 am...I wake up to get them new water and my olderst kittens favorite mouse is in the water bowl...(i should say our oldest kittens name is HAMSTER,and our youngest one's name is SWEET PEA...(wanted to name her spamster..)...

next play time is 2-4 pm...mouse in water bowl..(it is a zebra mouse...)...

next play time is 8-10pm...mouse again in water bowl...and repeat every time for the last 2 weeks.

when it comes to their play times I always check the water bowl...and sure enough his favorite mouse is in their water bowl...

HAMSTER IS A MALE AND SWEET PEA IS A FEMALE..both spayed and neutered..

can anyone tell me why Hamster does this...and when I get the mouse out of the bowl, he wont play with it until it is completely dry....HELP...I told hubby I was going to throw the mouse away.  And he said no...Our Hamster is a finicky toy cat...They have all kinds of toys and Hamster will only play with the zebra mouse...no matter what...HELP please...thanx Kim...

I see no big problem.  Your cat likes to play with the mousie and the water bowl.  Hence, mouse in the bowl.  Sugar dumps a mouse in the bowl several times a day.  Just squeeze it out, throw it and change the water in the bowl.

How much do you interactively play with them?

Yep, I have had a few cats who were adamant about placing their toys in the water bowl. I have a set of shelves in my kitchen and I have now placed both their food and water on a shelf. This keeps their water separate from the dog's water and the dog can't reach their kibble. Have yet to see a toy in the boy since I lifted it up off the floor.

Hi, we have the toy in the water bowl issue, so I researched it and apparently the water bowl is seen by our fur babies as a safe place for fav. toys. Soooo, dunked toys equal happy cats. We dry em out on a radiator then just chuck the poor stuffed little buggers back to the hordes!!!

If you have a mouse drowner, don't spend the extra money for a squeaky mouse.  They won't survive the first drowning.  The long-life battery shorts out in about 30 seconds when submerged.  However, after the voice croaks, they still have the ''carcass" to play with.

Aww, makes me long for kittens again.
I don't have any suggestions, though.  Speck has a favorite green mouse, but he doesn't drown it.  At least, not yet.  Welcome to TCS!

I don't usually find toys in the water bowl. However, the green stuffed mouse frequently finds its way under the covers on my bed. :lol3:

Unfortunately, I sometimes find a wet mousie that has been dropped by my head in the middle of the night.

Thank you for the welcomes and sorry for the much late reply...We have not been to the point where Hammy brings his wet mousie to bed...He has a gazillion other mousie toys and his zebra mousie is his favorite...Not a day goes by  that I dont play with them...Me and Hammy like to play fetch...I throw the mousie and he brings it back to me...Hammy and daddy have their little rituals and same goes for Sweet Pea and daddy...but it is always mommy time for them...Now Hammy is at the point when I am bringing out my crochetting blanket time he has to hid under the blanket and I run the crochet hook over the blanket and he will follow it...I make really sure he cant bite on the metal part of the hook, but the rubber part he cant do much damage to...only time he gets to play with my hook is when I am in control of it...Sweet Pea has a habit of falling at our feet when we are sitting down and when she is laying next to us she will put her head under our hands for her to be petted (just like a dog)...they think they have dog traits also...we have to watch her closely on the breakfast bar tho...she has a bad habit of rolling off...she has done it quite a few times...lucky she doesnt get hurt,...

I was at my sister's house for the weekend while my niece was graduating and told the story of Sugar dropping the wet mousie in my ear.  The niece's 3 year old daughter - my great-niece I think it would be - was worried that the kitty would try to drop the mousie in her ear. We finally got it through to her that my kitties were a long way from there and she cheered up.  Then she wanted to see pictures and all I could show her were pictures of the mousies in strange places.

Like this.

or this.  Neither picture was posed.  Sugar just has a strange sense of humor.
