My coworker came to me, asking me for help in regards to her sister.

Her sister has two cats. 1 5 month old male kitten.. and a female that's 4 years old.

She says the 4 year old is aggressive and screams. Has been aggressive for 4 years.

said cat is not spayed and has never been to the vet.

I told her a few days ago to get her spayed ASAP, and explained why. I told her to get the cat spayed, wait a few months and see if she calms down.

Her sister is refusing to spay. I sent her links and phone numbers to low cost/free spay and neuter.. she still won't go. She's trying to rehome the cats, and all shelters are full.

Can someone offer me advice for me to give them? I keep telling them to spay and neuter the cats quickly and explaining to them why its important to.

quick responses appreciated, I want to see how things are going tomorrow and offer more advice if I can!

WHY doenst she want to spay?  The pro-spaying campaing can be successfull firstly when you know this.

If it it the trouble perhaps you can help with the practical details.   It is not really cost, as there are low costs clinics nearby...

So why? Begin the discussion from there.

Good luck!

OH those poor cats.... and she is trying to get rid of them as well. :sigh: Her four year old female howls because she is going in and out of heat. Soon if not already, she will be pregnant by the 1 1/2 yr. old male cat. Then, they will have kittens, and so on. IF she gets the cats fixed and there are low-cost clinics everywhere nowadays, then they will definitely calm down and become wonderful pets. All that is on their minds now is to breed and try to manage their raging hormones.

See if you can help this co-worker's sister try to find another home for these cats since she says she wants to re-home them. I know this is not easy..... but make up some flyer's and post them at all vets and pet stores, make call after call to rescues/shelters and foster networks. There are even places that will do spays/neuters for practically nothing and at the very least, maybe she would be open to letting someone take the cats to be fixed for her. I know it is maddening in these situations, but I try to think of the cats and then I am able to deal with the irresponsible owner in a more gentle manner. It is a means to an end. Good luck and hope she will listen. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Amen on the spaying.  As much as I love our little foster Sassy, she would drive us crazy if she hadn't gotten spayed.  She would run from one end of the house to the other, stop, howl a few times, and run to the other end and do it again.  Now she's almost silent.  Master of the silent meow, you know.
