Hi

Charlie is a 4 year old Persian and wighs around 8 lbs.

Right now I have his dry food laying out for him 24/7 which I refill constantly and I feed him 2 tablespoons of canned food twice per day at 12 hour intervals.

Please tell me if you think this is right/enough because he is constantly begging for food and it seems that he's always hungry.

I have to mention I live in a stupid place where cat food is a delicacy and not available in too many brands and is unreasonably expensive. So I can't afford an all-wet diet although I've read here that it's better. I need him to fill up partially on dry food which is cheaper in comparison.

So, with all this. Am I feeding him enough? Why is he always hungry??

My 2 eat dry food too as it is all I can afford. Occasionally they get Friskies wet for a treat. They are free fed too and can eat as much as they want 24/7. Neither is overweight. Both are tall and long cats. Mia (1 1/2 years) weighs 11.1 lbs. and Mac(5 mnths) weighs 7.6 lbs (he is not fat just big). The main thing is to do  the best you can with what you have but LOVE is the first ingrediant cats need most!!!  :)

Where are you located? And what is the brand you're feeding him, and what other brands are available? Because preparing home made food may be an option that is cost effective.
