I have her surgery recovery area ready.   I hope to see her in it this afternoon if all goes well. it is nice and soft.

We've been playing with the live traps.  We can only get one to work.  But it's a big one.  Husband showed me how to work it and it's in the rear of the pickup..

It will be a quiet day this evening.  My husband and I are taking our son and grandkids to Red Lobster, so she will be able to sleep in a quiet house.

I hope it all goes well today. It is amazing that you have been so patient with this little one and her family. It is a shame that she was abandoned, but now she is good hands. You are truly a kitty angel.
I can't to hear how it goes.

Thank you Crazy Kat.  We try to do our part...

I just finished feeding our cats..  They have to have their tiger food first thing in the morning.  I HOPE so much that Beauty will find her way and her place in my colony with no difficulty.   We've only had one cat that had a bad attitude and had troubles fitting it and it was hard but I had to let them work it out on their own.  He is a male cat name Buddy.   I tried separating them at first but that was not the solution.  Cow, a female, finally kicked his butt and he settled down.  Buddy was abused and abandoned and that might have been part of his attitude problem.  Someone had put liquid nails and nair on him so we took him in.  He still had bald spots and it has been years and the hair has never grown completely back.  It probably never will.

Here's this mornings pic of them.   They are outright pigs when it comes to food.  Buddy is the yellow cat in the front.  You can see a few hairless spots on his back from the nair.  The black and white female beside him is Cow.  They have no problems now, thank god..  He leaves her alone.  I actually think he tried to run her off..

But here's breakfast time!    They love Taste of the Wild

I'm leaving in just a few mintues to get the mama.  After I get her in the truck, I'm going to set the live trap for the youngsters before I go to the vet.  Thank god they're not still nursing in case it takes a few days to catch them..

I am back home and Beauty is at the vet..  If they can't get her in there today, they'll do it in the morning.  They'll call me later.  And I have a live trap set for the babies with tuna inside. I put a cover on the rear of it so it looks like a cave.  They are used to sleeping in the crate I have out there so I hope the cavelike atmosphere will help entice them.  I'll check it when go back to town later.

When I got to her cat site this morning, I could not find her.  It was the first morning she was not there.  I suspect she was gone looking for food since I purposely did not feed last night.  I finally caught sight of her through the building alley's walking around downtown around a hamburger joint.   I walked around to where she was to call her and lost her again.  She has quick little legs.  When I got back to the cat site, there she was -- waiting on me.

I put a little tuna juice in a lid and she loved it, so I put some more juice in a bowl in the back of the crate.  When she went to sniff the door of the crate, I scooted her inside and slammed the door quickly.  After she was showed up at her site, it took about 5 min to get her inside.  Thank you God.....  that is what I was praying and hoping would happen.

I put her in the truck and she rode like a champ with wide eyes.  She never made one sound, but she was shaking because she was scared.  She never meowed or hissed.  I think she was in shock.

After they get her knocked out, they are going to do the cat leukemia test and call me whether positive or negative.  If all goes well, hopefully she'll be here with me this afternoon --fixed and vaccinated.  I told them about her breathing also, so he is going to check that out.  I told them I want her to have the works so that she can be around my cats.

I will worry about the leukemia test until I hear from them  That is her next hurdle.  Please God, let it be negative.....

I also told them if I catch the babies today, I'll wait till tomorrow to bring them in.  I'll just have to leave them in the live trap if I catch them tonight and bring them home and feed them inside it.  They are wild wild wild and there is no way I could re-crate them if I let them out.  They have never been touched by human hands.  I see another challenge in my future....

I'm going to put her crate in the bedroom with me for her surgery recovery.  I don't want the dogs sniffing and scaring her.  We have three ankle bitters and one old black lab.  We're going to be gone this evening and I want her to have solutude and rest.  She has already been through a lot and now it's time  for her to heal emotionally and physically and spirtually.  Her life has changed.

I'm crying out of relief......  I'm heading to town now to check on her babies and see if I've caught one.....OMG, I am sooo happy......

That little girl wants to belong to someone sooooo bad.  I will never forget her first purr.  NEVER......

Vet said she is very underweight, but otherwise appear okay and basically healthy.  All her problems will go away with food and care and love.

No young cat yet in the live trap....  You know, I have seen them twice  at night.  Once, from my work parking lot, after dark, I could see one of them playing.  And the other time was about midnight when TWO jumped out of the rubbermaid crate.

I have seen ONE from about 10-15 feet away when it was raining and I was feeding under the shed.  The baby was in the woods and frantically wanted about of the rain. so it was meowing and dashing in and out of the downed tree limbs.  I left so it would feel safe and could get out of the rain, and that one was a long haired solid grey I think.

That's the only times I have seen them in nearly 6 weeks.  I suspect they are at least 3 months old.  Maybe 4.  It is hard to say.  They are not infants but stil very young and still sleep together with mama near by..  And they are fast as lightening.

This has been a heck of a day.  I never go to town this much.  I went  this morning to get the mama, set the trap and came home.  I went back to check the trap.  I am going again in a bit to pick up my husband.  He is leaving his vehicle at work so he won't have to drive all the way back out here.

On the way home tonight, I'll go by and check again for a baby..

And I have taken down a bo-flex and loaded it in the truck for my son.  He is so excited.  He is 30.  I am exhausted and my day is not even half way done.  But I am going to have a good time tonight.  I think I will have a margarita to celebrate with my meal tonight!

At 2:45 I am going to pick Beauty or Trixie up.  They said the earliest I could pick her up is at 3:00 and I want her drowsy when I get her home so I can get her in the large crate with ease. Not sure what her name is yet.  My daughter wants to name her Ally.. short for ally cat.    I might just do that.  After I get her situated, I have got to bathe and get ready for red lobster....  omg.......  I have 150 miles to drive.  And then on the way home, we'll check the live trap again.

What a productive day.  I am off tomorrow also.  So hopefully I will catch the babies tonight.  Or at least one of them.  When they come in from the woods, I think ONE will be easy to catch.  If the trap scares the other, there might be trouble in the camp.

I'm am leery about only putting food just in the trap.  If I only get one, the other will be hungry.  So I right now -- I have food and water in two places.  In the trap and out of the trap.  I think maybe it might be a good idea to only put food in one place while we are eating out tongiht.  This is a long trap. It's at least 2-3' long.  If I put food in the front of the trap in several places, maybe both will eat their way in and I might get both of them.  I think I will.  I'll swing by there on my way to Branson and fix it different.  Afterwards, on the way home, if no cat is in there, I'll put food back out.

I have made lots of progress today!

Vet said she is 5 lbs underweight.  She weighs 6.2 lbs......

I have her back in her crate now.  I'll let her out when we get back.

This has been a wonderful day!

Well, I screwed up on catching the babies.  I was so worried about catching them and not having water in the live crate, that I messed up. I had a bowl of water and two bowls of food inside.  Evidently, both kittens were in it because when the trap was sprung, the rear cat jumped, shoved the water bowl, and the door got caught on it and they escaped.

It is now reset with two "small" bowls.  They are wedged in and no water.  Hopefully I will get one of them or both tonight. I will drive to town first thing in the AM.

It's 5AM.  Just started coffee.  As soon as it's daylight I''m going ito check on the babies.

The mama is a joy. When we got home from red lobster, I wasn't sure what to expect.   So I let her out in my bedroom.  She loved and purred and ate and purred and loved.

She slept next to me.  What woke me this morning was this little kitty rubbin on me.  She is so grateful.  She is seriously grateful.

I brushed her.  Her entire undercoat is silver covered with black.  She has silver rear thighs and lots of silver on her chest.  She is beautul.now, even skinny.   I'll take some more pics today.

She has already exceeded every expection I have had for her.  I have two house kitties -- Biscuit and Cleo, both black.  Might ending up having three.

two morning pics...  She is the sweetest little cat.  She is letting husband pet her as well.   She had taste of the wild with sausage for breakfast to add a few calories.....  The next few weeks I am going to fatten her up.

Husband is going to check the live trap on his way to town to see if anything is in it.  He is going to leave in a few mintues..He'll call me as soon as he checks.

She has met one dog so far.  She met Oscar, our 6 lb dauchaund and the meeting went quite well.  I also brushed her, but she still have stickers in her tail.  She won't stay stlll for me to remove them so I am not pushing her..

She loves to love......I have rescued a lot of cats, but I have never seen one this grateful.

And here is her silver undercoat.  I've never seen anything quite like it.

The more I brush her, the lighter she is getting.  I thought she was a solid black cat but she's not.......  I wiped her off with a baby wipe and look what was underneath......

She is going to be freaking beautiful.... There is no telling what she is going to look like when all her hair thickens up and come in.  She is very unusual looking.   I see now why she has two long haired grey babies.  They are causing me stress.  What if I can't catch them?

In one of these, you can see the scar on her face.  It looks like a healed burn wound.

Look at her little face......  I love her already.  How could someone just discard her?

And check his out.  She is going to have red in her tail... I finaly got the stickers out.

You can see the burn here.  And look at all that silver.  I guess she was just that dirty????

Here's her undercoat.

Husband just called.  The live trap has not been touched.  He also put kitten food out so they can eat.  They are probably scared of the live trap now after last nights incident.......

I've done all I can do.  Both both traps set but I also left food out.  I sat down there for approx an hr or so calling, meowing....  I thought I heard  mew a couple times but could not pinpoint the exact location in all the brush and downed trees.  I can't walked down there as I will fall and break something.   But I do have them set up.  I'll check it tonight or have my husband check it at 4pm.

I also talked to the restaurant owners and told them about the mama kitty and they are so relieved.  They could never touch her but they did leave food out for her.  They also said the babies are half as big as the mama so they are long past weaning.   thank goodness..  I have a feeling after their scare last night in that one faile trap attempt, they will not venture into another one.

Also the food had not been touched at all....  An open can of tun just set there, so I threw it out.  So I put fresh water and MORE fresh food out.  Several kinds of wet food plus kitten chow.  Hopefully the food odor will draw them out so they will eat and sleep in the shelter if nothing else.

I have mama running around the house right now.  She has met Cleo, Biscuit, Pebbles and Wooley.....  They all take her in stride, but she stands in front of them and hisses.  I put the dogs out in the cat enclosure so I won't overwhelm her.  She has met two so far.  Mary, a little liny black dog.  Oscar, a tiny weenie dog....  She has not met muffin or Emma.

She is just walking around smelling every corner.  She is smelling my bicycle tires too.

=============

Here's how I have my traps set-up

And here's our cat yard too.  I think I posted this somewhere else in this forum... we've had three through the years, but this one is the best.  1200 sq feet.  It comes in handy for the dogs sometimes -- like right now.  Mary and Oscar chase deer and this is bow season so right now when they go out, they are either put in the enclosure or have a harness on.

If I don't catch them in a few days, I will have to take the traps back.  If I don't catch them, I'll just keep feeding them.  This is my last post on this thread unless something undo happens.

Crap and double crap....

One of the deputies just went by and checked for me.  Still nothing.   No food has been disturbed.

And poor little mama is laying under my computer table on my feet.

And I am second guessing myself about everything.  Should I have waited and NOT taken the mama until I caught the younger ones.  OMG... There are people that do this all the time.  How do you do it?....The stress, the anxiety, the waiting..... is it always like this?  I am worried that something has gotten them now..  Why won't they come eat?
