I think the last time I posted on this forum was September 16th 2011 when I had to put down one of my cats. Im allergic to cats but I loved my babies so much I just put up with it...the coughing,wheezing...cant breath on occasions...yeah I was either dumb or just loved these cats...both? Anyways I got a divorce and decided my health was more important than the cats..as it should be....My EX kept all the cats. Every once in a while I do think about them and I get sad...which is natural when you have pets and suddenly you have to make a decision like I had to...its not easy.  I know they are in good hands but I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has chatted with me on this site and read my posts...you guys are cool. One day when I can get into my own house again, I will get 1....just one cat. 4 was too much for me.

You really have been through a lot then. :hugs: Sorry about the cats AND your divorce. I do hope that someday soon you can get another kitty. There are a few member's here that are allergic to cats and still have them so it is manageable. Hope things get better for you very soon. :cross: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

thanks..I know they are in good hands though. How long do you think the cats took before they forgot about me?

   They won't forget... just adapt.

There are cats that seem to be less allergic. I have a lot of people coming into my home so have to keep it as low allergy as possible, and have had good success with my two Russian Blues.  However if you prefer to take on a rescue, it's unlikely you will find one (my boy is but he had major health issues).

There seems to be some truth in light haired cats being less allergic than dark.

Also if you get a kitten you can train him/her to be really used to baths and lots of grooming.

You'll get through this and have a lovely pussycat friend again.

Your cats will never forget you.   They just go forward and adapt.  I once went to see a dog close to two years after I found him a new home.  He was so excited to see me.  I am sorry for your turn of events.  Divorce is definitely not a good thing, You will have to do the same thing your cats are doing and that is move on.  I understand the allergy problem as we deal with it with my husband's allergies.  He lived okay with one cat, but when we added the second one in the house, he could never get over it until we put our cats outside.  They now live in a fenced in area with a special attachment that keeps them in and other animals out.  In the future when you get settled in a place, you might try living with one cat and be fine.  Just be sure if you try that and can't deal with it, you have a good back up plan what to do next.  A cat is a commitment.

I'm sending many
for your future good luck in getting a new house and a new kitty.  It will help your allergies if you dust and vacuum frequently.  Also, have you ever talked to your doctor about allergy shots?

I'm in the same boat. 4 cats, and I'm moving to an apartment where I MIGHT be able to take one. I can't believe I have to leave my babies.
