I have an elderly cat that is throwing up her food.... a lot.  I give her a spoonful of pouch and then leave out dry food for her to munch as she pleases.  From what I can tell, the throw up consists of the dry food.  I don't know if it is just that she is getting old and is having health issues or if it is the type of food that I am feeding her.  Has anyone else had this issue?  Does anyone know a type of food that I could feed her that might stop this?

I would take her to the vets.  It might be just she needs a change of food but how long has she been on her current diet and when did the problems start?  She might have one of the many conditions that affect elderly cats.

She has been on this particular dry food for a month or so.  I guess, like any cat with a hairball, she will throw up from time to time but yesterday was really bad.  Thanks for your response.

I agree; a vet trip is in order.

Did you slowly introduce the new food to her?  That is usually recommended; but since this is a month into it I'm not sure that it would be the culprit or not.  My vet once told me that if the food they have thrown up is tubular shaped it is often a hairball blocking things.  Either way I do think your vet should take a look at her.

Absolutely - in an elder cat with a lot of vomiting, a vet trip is in order. It could be SO many things. She might have a hairball blockage, she might have eaten something that's causing a digestion problem, she might have a growth in her colon or stomach, she might be constipated and backing up.... there's just no safe "home remedy" for a situation like this, it needs a vet opinion. :heart2: Many vibes for you and your kitty. :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:
