Thank you everyone. I can't wait to bring her home. I got to change her diaper for the first time today. It was the first time I got to really do anything for her so it made me happy, even though it was a gross poopy diaper.

Congratulations!!!  Your little girl is beautiful and looks so strong!

How are you feeling?

Her name is beautiful and what a great coincident that she arrived on this exact day!

(I have a cousin that shares her name, with a different spelling though, I like your spelling. My cousins´s name is Kathrine Amy Elizabeth)
I am feeling pretty good. I know that Aimee is in the best place for her right now. They are helping her grow strong so she can come home. The nurses are all awesome and let us know everything that they are doing and answer all of our questions. I'm tired of being in pain from the c-section though. It hurts a lot to try to get in and out of bed.
Awwwwwwww

Congratulations!

They expect her stay to be "closer to my due date" which was November 15. They are hoping to be able to transfer her to my hometown hospital in about 3-4 weeks so we don't have to keep going 40 minutes away. They said her total hospital stay could be just 6 weeks, which is 4 weeks before she was supposed to be born.

Just thought I would share these pictures too. This was the first time we got to hold her. She is much smaller than she looks wrapped up. The nurse left the pillow with the wire inside that is wrapped around her and just put a blanket around it.

She is doing really well. She is 1 week old today....that week went so fast. Last week, when they first started feeding her she was eating 1mL of food every 2 hours. As of yesterday it was 9mL, but today it should be going up to 10mL. Full feeds are 13mL, so she is getting there. Once she is at full feeds, her IV can come out. That should be tomorrow or Thursday hopefully. Her CPAP is down to 5, which is the lowest number before she can come off of it. They said they could take her off soon but then she will use all her energy trying to breathe and may not digest her food properly so they are leaving her on the CPAP for a little while longer. She is off the photo therapy for her jaundice too.

Congratulations!  I'm glad you decided to post pictures, it doesn't bother me to see preemies, I was present for the delivery of many of them when I was still working as a high risk labor and delivery rn.

She's beautiful! Those tiny little hands... awww :)

In the pictures of her under the phototherapy lights, she totally looks like she's sunbathing!

She had to go back on the photo therapy yesterday. She has been on and off it 3 times now. Good news is, she is gaining weight. She was 960 grams at birth, went down to 920 and is up to 1000 grams now. She is gaining all in her belly. They took her IV out yesterday too so now she is just hooked up to the monitors and CPAP.

I wouldn't be concerned about going back under the lights.  That is common for all babies including full term babies.  It isn't the same thing as liver disease in someone that is older.

Aw look at her all relaxed!  Too cute!!  Seeing her in your arms and then reading your description of how she is wrapped really puts her size in perspective!

Have you considered starting a blog for your little one? Since you posted about becoming her mom, I've read a few from other moms of preemies, and really enjoyed reading about their experiences. This one, for example: http://micropreemietwins.blogspot.com/ She's been keeping this for ages, and her daughters are in first grade now! 'Course your baby isn't extremely premature like they were, but still, same principle.

It would be a cool place to put up all those pictures and keep people up to date on how she's doing. Of course, entirely contingent on whether you have the time, energy, and brain-power left. I've never been a new mom, but I'm told it's exhausting!

She is tiny, but she looks long!
