Forgot to tell you about our attempts to put our shutters up yesterday.    As you may have figured out, Paul and I are klutzes --- not at all handy.   We took the shutters out, lined them up and went crazy trying to put them in the tracks.    We were afraid to force them because we didn't want to break a window.  Anyway, I thought of our lawn guy (new man who we are using who does a great job).  On a hunch I called him, asked if he knew anyone who could put the shutters up.  His immediately reply "I'll be there in 1/2 hr",   Said he didn't want any money for doing the job, but I insisted and gave him a check for $50.     Then we got a call from the man who is doing the clearing of our property this Thurs and he said that if we had any debris from the tropical storm we should just leave it and he'll clean it up.   Luckly we didn't have any problems but it was very nice of him to offer.   Also he's going to cut back our pine trees, one of which dropped a branch on our roof last week.     The trees are ancient and much too close to the house.  Don't need a giant pine falling on our roof!    Can't wait to get the giant bushes out.  I'm going to take before and after pictures and will post them.

The bush trimming will be done tomorrow.    Of course we're paying (a lot) for this, but it's well worth it.   In the dry season the bushes are a major fire hazard, and we did have some bad fires in our area a few years ago where 2 houses on our street were destroyed.    The machine this guy uses looks amazing.  It looks like a giant army tank and completely pulverizes the bushes down to the ground the makes them into mulch.   I just took some "before" pictures outside and will take the others hopefully tomorrow.  It's supposed to be at least a six hour job.

Oh that is great!  Tree trimming/removal is expensive!!  We had our big trees done when we bought the house.  I was about 5 months pregnant when I came home after it and found my trees looking scrawny and a birds nest lying in the grass.  I stood in the yard and bawled.

We had to take down about 15 pine trees after that because they were in terrible shape; but we hired the neighbor to do it!  He was out of work and heats with wood.  Win win for all. LOL  He did rent a machine to grind the stumps.  It was kind of sad though.  The trees really attracted us to the property; but we didn't realize how bad they were then.  They had been planted too close together and started dying off; besides being very irregularly shapes.  One literally made several turns in the trunk...  And we did have one fall on the garage our first winter during a blizzard.  Fortunately it didn't do any damage!
