So we went to the 4-H fair today. It's for the children in the sense that they clean, set up, show their animals: sheep, milk goats, meat goats, meat cows, dairy cows, horses, chickens, rabbits, and more. 4th grade through high school.

There's one building where the various clubs can have a display booth - Centaurs 4-H horse club, Fur 'n Feathers 4-H poultry and small animals club, Hunterdon Hoppers 4-H rabbit club, Kick Butt Kids 4-H goat club etc. And there was a 4-H cat club booth! Various posters and signs "Whose reality is it anyhow, yours or your cats" and one about "cattitude" and more.

They meet twice a month to talk about cats and learn about their care and feeding. Friendly well behaved cats are welcome to attend too. And they're looking for new members, ideally around 12 years old.

What a super idea, wish I was young enough to join . . . .

I'm part of it!
Unfortunately there aren't any project meetings in my area, but there is a lot to learn from the books.  However due to a lot of researching online and in other sources, a lot of the information is old for me.  There are some fun little projects though- such as drawing different parts of a cat's body and researching a health problem relating to that body part.  Definitely something to try out if you are young enough or know someone who is!

ETA:  I've also shown some cat related items at the local fair, which is something you can do if you're part of the project, e.g., cat toys.  I wish there was a local cat show for 4H kids, but I do think my cat would be too terrified to do it!

I'm more in the grandmother of a 4-H member age category. I just think it's wonderful they have a club for cat lovers in addition to the usual livestock / poultry / dogs.
