As some of u know Leonidas went to the vet for Neutering earlier he came home with 2 topicals and 2 for his big sissy as well. The meds are Profender & Advantage Multi.

I've never been lucky enough to have a cat who didn't freak out when topical meds were applied. These 2 are no different. I had the vet be the bad guy for leonidas and his tech put one between his shoulders and one way down on his back between his rear legs. He can reach both by kicking of course and had already made a big smear down the side of his little body in both directions. So it's only a matter of time before he's licking it.

My question is with Oksana I generally use an Elizabethan Collar to keep her from licking until it's dry. SHOULD I PUT ONE UP NEAR HER SKULL AND ONE BETWEEN HER SHOULDERS? Or just do what the vet did?

i'm confused. these meds overlap and they are both absorbed. profender takes care of tapeworms, roundworms, and hookworms. advantage multi takes care of fleas, roundworms, hookworms, heartworms, and ear mites.

assuming these are needed, i would administer the profender one day and then regular advantage the next. at the base of the skull.  and then start the advantage multi one month later.

I should have been clearer. The vet gave my older cat this same regimend when she was a kitten. He prescribes the profender because the advantage does not kill tape worms. Advantage kills everything but tapes and ticks and my cats are indoor. There are tapeworm only medicine but he doesn't like those. The kitten brought fleas in the house and has tape worms so he wants to dose Oksana as well. She has been scratching.

The Advantage is applied monthly.  I put it on the back of the head, out of the reach of the tongue.  No need for a collar.  I have no experience for the tapeworm meds as I've only had one with tapeworms and the vet just pilled him while we were in the office.

You don't know this cat, she's a magician of sorts. When I first got her I dropped 33 bucks on a single dose of Revolution from my veterinary (i know, that's outrageous...). I apply it is exactly as directed and within 20 minutes she had managed to roll, rub, kick, & lick it almost all the way off. Oksana can reach areas that other cats can't.
