No, not yet.  She was hoping to weigh him Thur. or Fri of last week, but worse case would do it this coming Wednesday when they take Flowerbelle in for an ultrasound. ('cause they don't have a scale at home)

Oh Medora - I'm sorry he's not losing your target, but I was SO happy to hear he can now reach some of his back leg! LITTLE BY LITTLE!  :bigthumb:

And for Billy, yep, he'll have to come with us Wednesday, when we take Flowerbelle in.

Sally - you have a scale THERE. Does it seem to be helping at all? I'm pretty sure Billy hasn't lost any weight, but it's really hard to tell. :lol3: He sure feels like he still weighs a ton.

I'm so glad he can groom a little bit more now. Slow steps.  I'm sorry he's not losing as fast as you would like but I'm super excited about the 3 oz loss.

Maybe the extra grooming he's doing can count as exercise?

Not weighing yet since we're only in the first week.  I don't want to get discouraged before we really give it a chance.  (I know what he weighed when we started the week though
)

Update - week 13

Holy cow! How can it be 13 weeks already!

Mickel weighted in at 23:12 (lbs:eek:z) tonight. That's 4 oz down since last week and a total of 3 lbs 2 oz lost in 13 weeks. I'm *so* glad he lost 4 oz this week. After the last 2 weeks I was afraid his weight loss was really slowing down but I'm happy with 4 oz.

I really think the difference this week has been exercise. I tried to have a few short play sessions with him throughout the week. I was getting kinda frustrated with trying to exercise him because he would mostly just stay in one spot and bat at toys. I thought he needed to move more to get any kind of workout. Then I realized he weights about twice what he should. That would be like me weighting 300 lbs. I think if I weighted that much I could get a pretty good workout even if I just stayed in one spot because any movement would require a lot of effort. So I stopped worrying about how little he moved and just played with him. I think it helped.

I've also  started giving him some raw food. He loves it but when I gave it to him before he had no trouble with it until he had been eating it for about 1 1/2 weeks. Then he started throwing it up soon after eating. It happened with beef, lamb and turkey. That was whole meals of raw. This time I'm only giving him 1/2 oz of raw mixed with 1 oz of Weruva and I'm mixing in a prebiotic/probiotic/digestive enzyme supplement. I've been doing that for the last week for 2 out of his 4 daily meals. I want to increase the amount of raw but I'm going to wait another week to make sure he doesn't start throwing up again. His other 2 meals are still the by Nature. And he is still getting about 145 calories a day.

I was hoping the raw would increase his energy and I think it has. He has seemed more active. He does the thing of walking around with a toy in his mouth and meowing. That's something new, him asking me to play with him!  Have I said how cute he is!

Congrats on hitting the target this week! YAY!!!  My Ulysses was playing similar to how you describe Mickey's play.  I would use a string that he would bat at and I would just keep putting it JUST outside his reach so he had to move more and more for it.  Now in the beginning of our play sessions he's way more mobile but about 10 minutes into it he goes back to his rooted play.  I can tell he still wants to play, though.  Each ounce U loses I can see a difference in his play.  Of course, my boy is a lot smaller than yours.

That's very cute of him to carry around a toy and meow like that. Our cat growing up would do that in the middle of the night with dirty laundry from the laundry room. She would stand at thebottom of the steps and meow like crazy with a peice of clothing in his mouth. lol  Cats are so cute with their little personalities.

Congrats again!!!!

I can see a difference in Mickey too. He is more mobile during play and at other times too. He'll sometimes chase after a toy for a minute or two but then he'll roll over on his back and just bat at it.

Thanks!

He has to lose another lb before he qualifies for another comparison photo. I only do it every 2 lbs because I want to sure there is a clear change in his appearance. I can't wait!

Gosh, I think I would be taking pictures and videos all the time. My facebook friends already think I'm pathetic with all the pictures I post JUST because someone may be looking extra fluffy that day. ha ha ha  The worse thing that could have happened (for them) is that I had finally gotten a smart phone and can now snap pictures and post them WAY easier. he he he

Well, I *do* take a lot of pictures of him. He's *sooo* cute!
If I posted them it would have to be in the Pictures and Videos forum though. I think I only get away with posting pictures here because the ones I post are related to his weight loss.

If I can get a good video of him playing I'll post it. The other one I posted wasn't that interesting.  He is getting a lot more active. I don't know if it is the raw food or if he is just feeling that much better with the weight loss. This weekend he was really going after the feather toy! He would run behind the coffee table and then jump out and pounce on it. I had never seen him do that before.

Well that is what the pictures forum is for. I doubt anyone cares about the odd picture here and there though.

Oooh, I didn't know there was a picture forum. I'm going to have to investigate that forum. I may have been missing out here!

That is really great about  Mickeys  weight loss and becoming more mobile and going around carrying a toy and asking for more play!   Good job to you both!
