OMG I could cry looking at that!!! That poor kitty! I can't understand why they didn't stitch it there actually but maybe it's because her temp was up. If you go to Petco or Petsmart they have soft Elizabethan collars that work just as well but she won't be banging her head everywhere. Oh that poor thing. ugh. Soooo many vibes for you both. You're a terrific mom to her, don't ever forget that she's lucky to have you.

That sort of wound is best not stitched as it needs to drain feely to heal, and it needs to heal from the bottom up.  Stiching can prevent both happening.

OMG!  Poor Angel! I too cannot believe that the vet did not discover the abscess.  It would have made her feel so much better to have it drained and get a head start on her healing.

Hope she is feeling better now, poor girl.

Omg Ruthy! Poor little girl! I can't believe this has happened, and for the life of me, that the vet has missed that? :wife:
I would totally do colloidal silver washes instead of salt and water too, 100%, no doubt about it, check out that thread Laurie posted.... :hugs: for you and vibes for your baby :vibes:

OMG RUTHY!!!!!!! I am just checking up here on your Angel and I see all of these posts and that awful abscessed wound. OH honey... I am sorry but am thankful she is getting the proper treatment for this wound. OMG Angel is lucky she survived this shooting. I have to say, I am really shocked that the vet did not see the exit wound on the first vet visit. That just doesn't make sense ..... I understand that it probably burst open after she got home - but they still should have checked the inside of that leg for a bullet exit wound. :shame: Sending you truckloads of vibes to you and Angel today that she will heal up quickly. I hope you do look at the thread that Laurie posted about using the CS wash. It really could help. AWWWW I am sorry you and Angel are going through this. :vibes: :hugs: :rub: :vibes: :hugs: :rub: :vibes: :hugs: :rub: :vibes: :hugs: :rub: :vibes: :hugs: :rub: :vibes: :hugs: :rub: :vibes: :hugs: :rub: :vibes: :hugs: :rub: :vibes: :hugs: :rub: :vibes: :hugs: :rub:

Oh POOR Angel! Poor Ruthy!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I assume you're to continue with the salt water washes?
They have given me some solution to dilute with cool boiled water and bathe 4 times a day.x

That is a definite, they only usually go out when the weather is nice and do't go very far but this one night she just wouldn't come in.x

She is a lot brighter tonight, still sleeping a lot but she has eaten and used the tray, I just hate looking at her poorly, its so terrible, I miss my bouncy girl, just wish she would get better soon and play with her toy mice again. I just hope that this experience hasn't damaged her too much and she can get back to her self in time. When fudge lost her leg it emotionally wrecked her and I just can't see another kitty go through this.x

Ruthy, she won't lose her leg. And she's a baby, she'll bounce back just fine. :heart3:

I DO ask you to read the thread I provided a link to. The 500 parts per million Colloidal Silver flushes saved AmberMay's kitty. It can't hurt (it is used topically, just like the solution the vet gave you), and it may help speed up the healing process!!!! :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

The colloidal silver should not cost much. And the wound Nadia's kitty, May, had was much, much, MUCH worse! It had been operated on twice, they'd used many antibiotics, steroids - the wound was the size of almost her entire thigh, and some on the other side. The very first day she used the colloidal silver wash, the heat around the area subsided, and May was no longer lethargic and started eating again. In less than two weeks, the wound was just "2.5 cm long to 1 cm wide". One week later - it was so small, there wasn't even enough wound to even flush any longer.
