my friend took her cat in the end to a vet and yes she is pregnant!! which was a total suprise as she was a resure cat and told she was done, vet scanned her and the vet said she was about 7 weeks, the problem is my friend is really worried as she has no internet and cannot easily find out, but the cat has her first milk come through!!! does that sound weird considering she is only 7 weeks???? my cat had babies like 10 weeks ago now which have all found good homes so i am trying to give some advice but this question i cannot answer.

Not sure why she should be in more of a pickle if the kittens come in a few days rather than a couple of weeks?

Agree the vet could be wrong on the due date, unless they have a lot of breeder clients they probably don't see a lot of cats with known mating dates so the ultra sounds is really a best guess.

Perhaps you can print out some info for your friend with signs her cat is approaching labour, or she could visit the library. Depending on where you live getting a pre-paid usb internet connection could also be a possibility if she wants to get online and research pregnancy.

Sad about the two small ones, but it happens.

Try to get her to weigh the kittens every day at about the same time.  A cheap pair of digital scales, that weigh to 1g, are perfect.  Except maybe for the first couple of days they would normally put on 10g each per day, or more.  If the stop gaining or start losing for more than a day or so then there's a problem - maybe with the kitten if just one isn't gaining or is losing, or with mum if it's both.
