I have a 14 week old Pit Bull named Ruger who adores my cats. Were starting to think he thinks he is a cat because last night we caught him cleaning and taking care of the kittens along side Bruda. She let's Ruger move them around and arrange then in the nesting area(my closet) and they sleep together for hours. It's amazing how people think my dog is a killer!

The kittens are cute.  At 14 weeks your dog is a puppy and a sweetie, but as he grows and develops he is a potentially dangerous dog because of his size and power, unless he is well-trained and kept under control.

Right now it's so cute seeing him with the kittens!

He's 36 pounds and 3 1/2 months old, yes he is capable of hurting them, but if he is still a puppy just learning how to act and is more unpredictable now than he probably will ever be, and is still treating them with care and being as delicate as a flower with them, then there is a strong chance he will grow up to be just as caring and docile with the cats and kittens.

There are pictures of my bluenose pit bull with some of my kitties and strays under the cats and other animals forum. These are soooo cute! Dillinger [my pit] acsolutely adores the kittens and the cats. He's so sweet and gentle with them- and he grew up with them all his life so i'm pretty sure he thinks he's a kitty too!!! Hahaha. He definitely tries to sit in your lap like a kitty! Im sure your Ruger will grow up just as loving and gentle with them, Dillinger will be 4 years old in September.

Oh wow that's awesome!! I'm glad more people have pit bulls, its such a shame people are so stereotypical and judge the dog before they even know them. Ruger was rescued by me at 5 weeks old from a drug house and has been around cats since that moment on, the other puppies in his litter all had died and mom was no where to be found when we got him so were pretty sure he's been around more cats than he has dogs. He is such a lover and gets along with everything he meets. Dogs, cats, kittens, puppies, little kids, i mean there is honestly nothing this dog gets excited over except for food haha.

Absolutely PRECIOUS!
My Mom has a pit/rottie mix and Lexi is the exact same way, nothing more than a big baby. ANY dog has the potential to be dangerous and I too can't stand the stereotypes associated with pitbulls. Thanks for sharing these pics.

For those that believe Ruger with "turn on" and start attacking the kittens. Here is what I come into my bedroom to see every single day.

Sooooo cute!!

I've never had a dog before, and after seeing your pictures, I now want a pit bull. ;) amazing. I think that there is no such thing as a potentially dangerous animal. If the dog is brought up right, and it is taught to be loving and not aggressive, I don't see a problem. Good luck with Ruger and your kitties, they sure are cute! :D

That is fantastic! Pit Bulls are a powerful breed, physically and emotionally. I have never had such loyal, loving, and caring dogs in my life. I've had chihuahua's attack me more times than I've ever had problems with Pits. I actually had a Pit Bull named Ales that I got from the animal shelter when I was really young, and I had two bull dogs as well. Well, the bull dogs got in a fight one day and my pit actually jumped, right before my eyes, into the middle of the fight and moved the dogs away from me, actually getting bitten herself. She then ran straight back to me laid down, and made sure the other dogs didn't come near me. She could open all the doors in house also, including our extremely heavy glass sliding door, and sadly that's where she ended up getting hit by a car right in front of the house. Now that I have Ruger, I'm more happy than ever! He is a love bug and since he comes everywhere with me, including work, I always get people asking me why he doesn't have a muzzle on, If I'm training him to be the gaurd dog for the office, or if I am nervous to leave him alone because he is a "killer dog". I even got asked to leave a beach I was at a few weeks ago because "it was a pit bull free beach and people were un-easy around my dog" he is a 32 pound, 4 month old, pit bull puppy who was leashed and friendly. He was actually getting snarls from the little dogs on the beach that were running around like crazy without leashes on. I love sharing stories about my animals because it is so sad seeing all these laws out there banning pit bulls from this or that, and in some places around the world and even in my own country the dogs aren't even allowed to be there and if they see one they will be put down ASAP. People just don't treat animals right these days, cats are being thrown out like trash and kicked around everyday, and dogs are being outlawed. What is our world coming to when living things don't even matter as much as our iPhones, and laptops.

Sorry about my rant, I guess I'm just still upset about finding those kittens in the dumpster and I'm projecting it into my everyday life. Oh well, venting felt good! haha

erwinhead- maybe we should start a thread in the Cats and other Pets forum titled 'Pitties and their kitties' and anyone who has a pit/pit mix can post pictures of them with their kitties :) I hate how people still believe it's the breed and not the owner- PUNISH THE DEED NOT THE BREED. There was actually a sign in a yard in my town that said 'Two pitbulls killed my cat' and then had pictures of pitbulls attacking kitties all over it. I was so, so mad [as was my step-sister who also owns two pits]. We put together a sign that said 'Our pitbull's best friends are kitties. They hate to see them suffer too. Punish the deed, not the breed' and then had a poster of tons of pictures of all of ours and our friend's pits with kitties.

That's a GREAT idea! It's hilarious you retaliated and put up your own sign though, I give you props for that because If I saw that sign, I probably would've torn it down...oopsss....haha. I bring Ruger to a VERY, VERY public dogie training class with a bunch of other dogs, and everyone always walks into the store and see's him and literally stands 10 feet away from us terrified. We have a friend in town that also has a pit bull who is a razors edge / gotti blue nose and he is over 100 pounds, but he looks like he could be Rugers dad and when he comes into the pet store with us people will double take, pick up their yappy little dogs, and run for the door. We've even had them call management and complain saying our dog's shouldn't be allowed in there because they are aggressive animals and could kill them and their dogs. Well, I have seven cat's and kittens in my tiny apartment right now, and I'm more terrified the kittens are going to claw my eyes out in my sleep then I am with my pit bull "killing" me or the kittens.

My cat Brutus will actually launch himself off of my couch claws and everything onto Ruger's back and just go for a ride while Ruger seemingly doesn't even notice he's there, I have to pry Brutus off of him because it makes me nervous seeing this cat riding my pit bull down the stairs of our apartments lol. People stare at my little animal family a lot if you haven't noticed we make kind of a scene.... :D
