I'm at my wits end.. My cat Toby has been throwing up and having diarrhea for months now.. A first vet I took him to suspected worms/parasites and put Toby on antibiotics, & de-wormer medication. That helped a tiny bit but there was still runny stool with bits of blood in it and he still vomited although he had an appetite..This last month Toby became lethargic and wasn't eating at all so I took him to a new vet, who ran extensive tests and kept him there for two days...They told me all his numbers were good - no organ failure or anything like that..The diagnosis has been *inflammatory bowel disease*  and he was put on some medication and prescribed a hypoallergenic diet. Well, after the week's medicine was gone, Toby started with the symptoms all over again. I called the vet and he gave me some more medicine.. That was last week.. Toby couldn't keep the medicine down and he barely ate... the little that he did eat, he threw up.   Seems like he absolutely hates this new hypoallergenic food (both wet & dry) He doesn't want to go near it

Surpisingly, Toby (who is about 1 year old ) has energy and still gets involved with playing with his *step-sister* - but he's meowing at me like he's trying to say *Mom! I'm hungry! find me something to eat that I can keep down!*  Poor little guy.

Anyway I came across this website which claims that the natural treatment *Plantaeris* is great for cats with symptoms like Toby's (that have been diagnosed with IBD)

Wondering if anyone here has tried it?

p.s  Neither vet has done an x-ray...they have both felt around Toby's stomach  and haven't felt any unusual masses or lumps and plus Toby hasn't cried out in pain during this process.   I'm thinking that he really SHOULD have an x-ray now

I am not familiar with this product, although I see in googling it that it got pretty good reviews on Pet Well Being.   I know there are folks here on TCS who have cats with IBD, so you might want to post another thread asking questions specific to that also.

for your little guy.

Looked good from the ads and review. However I did some more research and found on the earthclinic website some advice for ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) and also pumpkin puree.

Well, my cat having similar symptoms minus blood in the stool, I tried both. And after a few days he's getting much better. Doesn't eat much, only a little of the pumpkin with the liquid part of a can of canned salmon (he doesn't touch salmon parts at all, rather surprising). Rather than canned pumpkin pie I just cooked in plain water a smallish 3 lb green pumpkin variety found at the local market.

No write up on the ACV/ pumpkin cure yet. But essentially, dilute a small capful of ACV in a cup of warm water and force dribble it into your cat's mouth with a dropper ( 3 dropper full at a time ea 3 hours is what Kal was OK with ), of course spaced away from his feeding time.
