Hello everyone!

Lately i've been thinking of doing a fundraiser for the SPCA in my area. I was (or am) planning to offer an 11" X 14" quality pet portrait done in pencil for the winner. How it would work is, I would sell tickets ($5 for 1 ticket or $20 for 5 tickets), which could be bought through Paypal, and at the end I would randomly pick a ticket and that person would win the prize!

Would anyone be interested in this? Is there a way I could improve upon it? I wish to raise as much money as possible for the BCSPCA, I love animals and it really breaks my heart when I see dogs and cats constantly being abandoned.

Thank you for your time

P.S. I have posted samples of my work on my other threads if you wish to see them.

I think it's a wonderful idea, I looked at some of your drawings and WOW, they are amazing! You are a true artist!

You might consider offering 2 or 3 prizes - most people are much more likely to buy tickets if they have a shot at more than one prize. I don't know if that might be too time-consuming for you, though, maybe 2 of them could be smaller size. Also, you should have an independent third party draw the winner(s) or it should be done in front of a crowd, just so everyone feels it was fair.

Good luck with it, our BCSPCA is a busy place, too, we adopted all of our three kitties from here in Victoria.

Over the river and through the woods...
Is this strictly online or are you going to have a display at a fund raiser as well? If you have any animal portraits that you would be willing to part with, maybe offer them as runners up and have the free portrait be the grand winner. Your pictures are beautiful I don't know of ANY animal lover that wouldn't love a picture done by you. You capture their very essence of who they are, from what I've seen.

I think the idea is great! But I do think there needs to be more than one winner for it to be successful.

Thank you for the advice, both of you!

I could do more than one prize, you're right, that would bring in more tickets. Perhaps 2nd and 3rd prize will be smaller portraits of your pet, and the 1st prize a big one, or maybe the 2nd and 3rd prizes will be drawings i've done in the past? I still have the details to work out yet

I was actually advised to contact the BCSPCA about this, but i'm not sure if they would even be interested

P.S. thanks for the comments on my work as well
