Good Afternoon!

Christmassy question

How many Christmas partys are you going to this year?

I have 3, I have a family one, a work one, and myself and two of the girls I work with are having a day out

Two! One for my team only at work and one for the whole work center. We have a family dinner as well but it's not really a "party".

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
Two, but possibly three if we can squeeze it in so it may be between Christmas and New Year.

I have 3 groups of close friends, so l had the first one last week with one group, and  the second one is tonight with the other group

Oh l forgot my office night out as well!. Our landlord who owns the business premises always takes us and the company nextdoor out for dinner, so that could be either next week or in the New Year

Three that are work-related for me (one here at work last week, one for the county planning commission tonight and one for a borough planning commission next Tuesday). I'm not big on social gatherings, so I stay away as much as I can. These I am expected to attend.

We are having a bit of a party this weekend for friends and family, an open-house kind of thing; people will drop in and stay awhile. On Christmas Eve, we'll be getting together with my in-laws for a little dinner. Then our family thing on Christmas Day at our house, which isn't really a party.

Oh, I forgot.....every once in awhile, a bunch of us from work go out for dinner. We're going to try to do that yet before Christmas, but I don't think we'll make it. Hopefully we will.

Two, one I've already been too, the other one is this Thursday with THE POWER CLUB. There may be another one if some friends invite us over for Christmas drinks and supper, though we haven't actually gotten an invitation on that.

Just one. My school is having a Christmas party with a turkey lunch on Wednesday. It's free, so I am planning on going. My husband says it isn't free when it costs over $10,000 for my course.
To me, it is free because the government is paying my tuition.

None!  DH's company doesn't do a party.  It's their busy time of year.  They will usually grill burgers and things for the guys (and gals) as they get back; but no formal party with family or anything.  Our church usually does a combined Thanksgiving/Christmas potluck dinner; but even that didn't happen this year!

Usually someone from church hosts a party after the Christmas Eve service with one of those gag gift exchanges; but with a little one we haven't gone the last several years.  They are usually quite a riot!  Also a dessert/appetizer potluck type event.  They will be having a party New Years Eve.  Usually they have board games, music and of course people bring food.  Again; not something we get to with a small child.  But DH is not a night person anyway.  It's been a while since he stayed up till Midnight with me for New Years!

No parties for us that I know of. I mean, I'm having Xmas eve dinner for DH's family and some friends then Xmas dinner at MIL's house but I don't consider them parties. My work used to have a "holiday party" at the end of January that was really nice. They would rent out the largest hotel and have a buffet dinner and open bar and service awards and door prizes were give out. Then they would have a dance (still with open bar) but with over 600 employees plus one guest each it got too expensive I guess and they stopped it a few years ago. DH knows someone who works at the hotel and said the company ended up paying over $250,000 for the last one. It was fun though, I miss it (especially the open bar!
)

Now they give us a catered lunch sometime in January at work and we get an extra 15 minutes (paid) added on to our lunch. It's good food though, done by a local restaurant and probably costs them a good penny too. We're having our jingle at work and a pot luck on 12/21 during work hours.

DH's work doesn't do anything except give him a $25 gift card to K-mart. The funny thing is we don't HAVE a K-mart here unless we drive an hour to the nearest one. We can use it online though so we'll at least get something. It's the thought that counts, right?
