Photo Uploading Not Working

Thread Starter

I tried uploading a photo of Cassidy for her memorial page, but I keep getting an error message. Is it a problem with the new format, or something on my end? dontknow.gif

thanks.gif for any help! wavey.gif

How are you trying to upload the photo? You need to click the photo icon 70, then use Browse to upload the file on your computer:
259 and click "Submit".

You can still paste an IMG link from Photobucket if you switch your Preferences to the BB Code Editor: 259 before you paste the link.

That's what I'm doing, Tricia, and it's not working ( what you first posted: uploading directly from my computer).

What is a BB code? dontknow.gif

Okay, I just changed the BB code thing, and I still can't upload photos - either way. 7.gif I don't understand what's going on! purplexed.gif This sucks! I can't post any pix! crying.gif I had to switch back to the rich code in order to use the smileys! frusty.gif

It stands for Bulletin Board Code. If you use it, you can, for example, type nod between : : to get this smiley agree.gif, instead of clicking on the smiley in the list. If you have it set, you don't have to type in the codes, but it enables you to post directly from Photobucket.

You can also open the upload box, and paste the direct link or HTML code link from Photobucket here: 259

I've tried all the different suggestions you've mentioned, Tricia, and nothing's making a difference. I'm at a loss...purplexed.gif

ETA: I just tried changing my avatar too, and that's not working, either. I really don't understand what's going on. purplexed.gif

ETA #2: I just also tried to add cat pages, and the photos aren't uploading for those, either -- although I was able to create an album and the photos uploaded for that. I'm Totally confused now. 7.gif

I'm sorry to be such a pest, Tricia - but I really don't understand what's going on. dontknow.gif

I've just edited your post to add this picture, and it worked. I also can't see anything wrong with your settings. I'll see if I can add your signature banner to your Community Profile. If it works, either you aren't uploading the photos right or something about your browser is causing problems.

Okay, I've put your old siggy banner in your Community Profile with no trouble at all. Are you using AdBlock Plus and/or No Script browser add-ons? If you are, disable them temporarily and see if you can upload. You may have to "allow" TCS on both those add-ons in order to upload. That's a reach, but I don't know what else to tell you.

I'm not sure if I have AdBlock Plus or No Script add-ons: how would I find out? dontknow.gif

I was able to make cat albums, and add them to my siggy area. I was also able to post a pic of Cassidy in her memorial thread by posting a link to PhotoBucket which you have to click on in order to bring the pic up for viewing. It's not exactly what I wanted, but I guess it's better than nothing. I really would like to get this situation fixed though, so if I want to post pix I can.

ETA: Okay, I just realized how to check for those two things, and I don't have either one of them in my add-ons. So that can't be the problem...ohwell.gif

I've just used your link to put Cassidy's photo in her CTB thread (in your post). If you're going to use Photobucket, you have to make sure you're putting the "direct link" in the right box. Click "Image URL", then paste the direct link where it says "Import URL", then click "Submit".

That's exactly what I did, Tricia - all to no avail. I even tried doing it different ways, just to see if it would work. I'm totally confused because I know I'm not a complete computer illiterate dummy anymore. dunce.gif rolleyes.giflaughing02.gif

Thanks so much for posting Cassidy's pic like that. hugs.gif I thought I was going completely insane when I saw it there after knowing it wasn't working for me! EEK2.GIF  If you woudn't have told me you "fixed" it, I think I might have gone over the bend. laughing02.gif

I really appreciate all your help in this, Tricia. wavey.gifMaybe we'll get it figured out eventually. cross.gif What really baffles me is why some of the features are working, but others aren't. doh3.gif

What exactly is the error message are you getting when you try to upload?  The tech team is going to need to know.

Also, please include your browser type and version and if at all possible, screenshots of what you're doing and the error message generated. Thanks!

Now the quotes aren't working properly either, as you can see by the above. eek.gif I tried quoting individually to each question, but this is what I'm getting. confused.gif

Katachtig, the error message I'm getting says this: "A temporary error occurred. Please retry your request."

Anne, I'm using the most current version of FireFox.- the one that was just updated about a week ago (8.01 or something like that). I can't post a pic of the screenshot since I can't post pix. But I'll upload the screenshot and try posting the link to PhotoBucket like I did in Cassidy's memorial thread.

Thanks for both your help! wavey.gif

Hmmm, thanks for the screenshot - that does help. I will pass this on to tech support and see if they have any ideas on how to fix this.

Quick test on Firefox 8 using the Rich Text Editor per above screenshot.

Tiff, could you possibly try uploading a file that doesn't have a dash in the file name? any picture would do, just for testing purposes, both from your computer and, if you like, from photobucket. Any simple file name that has nothing but letters or numbers in it would do, just nothing else. Thanks!

I cant make a page neither. I get a 404 error message. mine are jpgs, right size, not to big. I just figured it was my set up. But if others have a problemm maybe I should say something.

Could you be more specific about where and when you're getting the error message? The photos you posted of your cats in New Cats on the Block are showing, as far as I can see, and so are your cat pages with photos: http://www.thecatsite.com/search.php?action=disp&type=Wiki&containerIds[]=47&search=MeuzettesMom
