Ritz + strange men = UTI

I am having some repairwork done in my small, one bedroom condo, two day job in a few weeks.  Patching, painting, sanding; cleaning carpets.  The last time I had repairmen come in, over a four or five day period, Ritz developed a UTI.  And when I went on a four-day vacation, she developed a UTI.  She's been diagnosed with stress-induced FLUTD.

Do you have any suggestions how to make this easier for Ritz.  I thought of placing her into a cat carrier and putting her in a dark, warm basement, but she'd be all alone and would have to stay in the carrier.  I also thought of keeping her in the (only) bathroom.

I have lots of Feliway and put rescue remedy in her food every day.  Sedatives don't work on her.

Do you have any other suggestions, advice?

Thanks.

OH I know about the stress workmen can cause on our kitties. Pipsqueak gets completely stressed out with anything like that. Just a suggestion and you could talk to your vet. But Elavil (an anti-depressant) has worked wonders for Pipsqueak's stress level and bladder issue. It might just help Ritz out during times of stress like this upcoming work in your condo. I also put all of my cats in the foster room and play some music or put the TV on a higher volume (not too high laughing02.gif) to drown out any noise. vibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gif for Ritz heart.gif

Thanks.  Good idea about the music.

How long did it take for the Elavil to take effect?

It took about two weeks before I really saw a difference in Pipsqueak. He was just more relaxed about household issues then before. He used to get really protective of me, go after the dogs and become agitated when someone came to the door laughing02.gif..... He still has his wonderful, sweet, out-going personality without the anger biggrin.gif!!!!! And it has really helped to minimize his trips to the litter box. His bladder has gotten a much needed rest now.

Good luck with Ritz hugs.gifhugs.gifvibes.gifvibes.gif
