Got a call from the vet tech. Dr.Mark is so busy today catching up from missing those days for his father's funeral. GOOD NEWS... the blood work all looks excellent. I will get a copy tomorrow when I bring in Perla for her eye check. We will also discuss the xray findings and what/if any medication will be needed right now. I will speculate again :lol3: and say that this is asthma. At least it is not cancer or anything super serious!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo: Asthma we can manage  Will update more after I see the xray and talk with the vet tomorrow.

Thank you ALL so much for your concern and vibes. Wendall feels the love :heart3: :heart3: :heart3: :rub: :D

Well, that's great news
.  And, let's hope it's not even asthma, maybe just seasonal allergies?  That would be even better, wouldn't it?  Maybe all he'll need is a benedryl once in awhile!

Oh Sally, I love your thinking..... :cross: :vibes: Here is what is going on at this point. I am picking up the xrays on Thursday for the Specialist, I forgot them today :anon: SO much to talk with Dr. Mark about - it has been a crazy time. Anyway, Wilbur goes in for full bloodwork on Thursday and then I will run the xrays up to the Specialist which is only about ten minutes away. He was the one who saw Pipsqueak last year too. I LOVE Dr. Mark. He is covering all bases and wants the other vet to confirm or add to what he thinks - which is asthma. The lungs are cloudy and hazy. He does not believe it is edema/fluid. So that is good. He works with this other specialist often and they are a great team. I appreciate the fact the Dr. Mark even suggested doing this.:happy3: He is just so compassionate, takes his time, and cares so much. Want's to make sure we are not missing anything. ALSO, we will see if an ultrasound is needed. So we will all have to wait a bit longer on a diagnosis :sigh:

IF it is asthma. Then we could start him on Pred. 5 mg. for seven days and see if there is an improvement in the breathing/episodes. Pred could be what is indicated for this condition. :shame: This could potentially get worse as he ages too and then he would need an inhaler. The really sad thing and makes me want to :bat: :smshfrk: :stomp: :wife: :bat: seriously :eek:nfire: ..... that man that dunked Wendall in the toilet when he was a kitten. That could have caused this issue in his lungs. :bawling: :bawling: :bawling: :bawling: Especially if he aspirated water..... I will give Wendall what ever he needs to feel better and give the best life he can have under my care. :rub: :heart3:

Thank you for your continued prayers, vibes, energy.... that you are sending Wendall's way. He had a bad episode this morning - mostly raspy, phlegm breathing. Thank goodness it is only in the mornings right now and not all day long. :vibes:

I can give you a few pointers. Get a nebulizer to have at home. You can bring him in the bathroom with it and close the door. Also, along with traditional medicine, you could use homeopathic stuff. And I'm not recommending you not go to a regular vet but you can do both, a traditional and holistic vet and make sure both of them know what the other is giving him.

Yes, thank you for the tips. I will look into the nebulizer. Thank goodness we are not at that point but I fear that as he ages, things could progress. I do have a Holistic vet I can concur with as well. I will wait until we get the final diagnosis from the Specialist. Not sure if he will need an ultrasound at this point. I totally agree with combining Eastern/Western medicine and do so with my older dog, Wilbur. Thanks for the concern too. :)

Thank you Jenn :hugs: I DO LOVE this little man. He really has an odd personality and such a silly little guy. He is deep rooted in my heart :heart3: He brings me much happiness and joy each day. He is always around me too. I have never had a cat quite like him. Wendall is not a lap cat, but a "near you" cat. He also is terrified of storms. He will come an literally sit on top of my feet and shake. I then carry him into my closet where we ride the storm out. Henry joins us too. My old JRT dog who is also terrified of storms. We have a closet party to weather the storm :storm: :party4: :lol3:

Took the xrays to the Specialist and dropped them off. OH I also got a stool sample. Dr. Mark wants to re-check the stool, just to be on the safe side. Parasites can cause some coughing and he does get a bloated stomach from time to time. I never know if he is just fat OR worse.... :sniffle: This morning was a gurglling morning in his throat but no coughing. Sometimes, it is just the gurgling, like phlegm is in his throat. :nervous: :vibes:

Good luck with everything. Wellington has been on prednisone for 6 years now - he started on 5mg every day and is now down to 1 mg every other day, and it controls hte asthma, though he still has episodes of heavy breathing. different vets have tried to take him off it, but he always starts attacks again. I know steroids are not good long term, but sometimes we have to measure quantity against quality, and we all want hte best life we can give for our cats. It sounds like you are in in very safe hands, and I wish you all the best for the future with your little man.

Our doctor told us steroids do not have the bad effects in cats that they do in humans; when our beloved Sun was put on them, it definitely made a huge improvement in his health and wellbeing, and he lived to 16, one for the record books in those times (he had dry-form FIP).

That's actually true and what is surprising about that is the fact that a cat's liver is so easily damaged by not eating. I've had my sister's cat on pred now for 2 years and she does very well on it. But steroids gives many, many kitties a new lease on life and so much better quality of life.

That is reassuring to know, Jenny, about Wellington. I am sorry he has asthma but that is very hopeful for me to hear about Wellington is only needing 1 mg. every other day. I am sure eventually, Wendall, will need Pred. Still waiting for the Specialists findings.

I have also worried that Wendall has FIP... only because of his bloated bellies from time to time. But his corona levels were low not high. I know that is not full proof though and there is not accurate test for FIP.
