I have recently partnered with a company called Huddler, providing us with a brand new software platform for the site. As you know, we have been putting a lot of work behind the scenes, tweaking the system in an effort to create the best possible environment for our community.

I am happy and excited to let you know that the launch date for the new site is November 1st, 2011!

Here are a couple of screenshots of what the new TCS will look like -

The new platform will be available right here on TheCatSite.com. The same username and password that you currently have will still work on the new TCS, and your posts and private messages will be there as well.

While we hope to make the transition as smooth as possible, there may be some downtime and there will probably some glitches to deal with on the first few days. We'll open a forum dedicated to answering your questions about the new platform after the transition.

I wish to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and patience so far. The members here are the heart and soul of the TCS community - together, I know we can make this site even better than what it is now!

Co-OL!!

So, for those who have been working behind the scenes on this, what are the real advantages of this new platform for us?
What does it bring to the table that vbulletin didn't?
Thanks!!

Stability and speed. VBulletin was bought out and support is security patches only unless expensive support was purchased. Also, many of the add-ons we have are no longer supported and would have continued to degrade the site.

We will be letting you know of the changes over the next few days.

There are a bunch of new features, as well. Members can add content to the site in more ways, including product reviews, wiki descriptions and lists and it's all fully integrated with the forums.

I also was wondering about this. I have some issues with trying to view TCS as is on my phone. I think it would be awesome if TCS had a mobile version.

Once you've used an app like tapatalk to view a forum you don't go back. It just makes it incredibly fast and easy. No scrolling around, no zooming around, no searching for buttons etc.

I dont think you should have to buy an app but a supported mobile site. Like if you go on verizonwireless.com it goes to a mobile site. It kinda cuts things down to the meat and potatoes of the site without overloading your phone with all the extras that can make it difficult to manuever thru. Thats what I had meant. I wouldnt be all about having to buy an app either. I would just like a mobile version of TCS. I have a Droid X and its kind of a pain in the batookus to view things that arent a mobile site especially if Im looking for something while running something else. Its really really slow for me. But a mobile version would make things run alot smoother on a phone and also not take up as much speed vs a regular site loading. I spend alot of time away from the house where my phone is my computer and even doing just random site things its a battery killer being on full sites vs mobile sites. Like TMZ has a mobile site. You would still have the option of viewing a full site or the mobile site.

I dont have a problem with the speed off the site on my phone i just need to double tap the screen and it puts it at a reasonable size to view and for the sake of a few movements on a screen it doesnt bother me, I hate hate hate mobile sites because it takes it away from the site I want to look at LOL

It doesn't replace a full site, it just gives them a new lease of life for people who are always on the move.

I mostly just like that mobile sites kinda get down to the meat of the site, you still get everything the site off but in a more simplistic form. Which for a phone is good. Im all for a mobile site with the option to view full site...noone would be forcing anyone to view the mobile site on their phone but for those who do prefer the simplicity of a mobile site would have that option. Everyone gets a piece of the pie and is happy.

I love the way the new site looks. I cant wait to see it on the computer.
