Are you certain he is a he? Because he looks like a dilute tortie in that pic, but hard to tell.

An adorable domestic short hair nevertheless.

i have to be honest, I would have guessed at a female as well, based on the colouration - the image looks like very faint tortie, but I guess you have the, ahem, low down, on that one. He's certainly a cute little guy.

Now he REALLY looks like a female! Has he been to the vet yet? If he's a male, with those colors, you've got a VERY unusual cat!

Not been to the vet yet but Dusty dislikes the cat carrier when we took him home a month ago but once i get him to the vet then see what happens next but if he's male then it will be an unusual cat to say the least

That cat is definitely a dilute tortie (blue/cream), in which case, if Dusty is a male, you do indeed have a very unusual kitten.

Tortie(and calico) are sex linked to females, so for a male to be tortie(or calico) means he has an extra chromosome.

Females are XX, males are XY, a calico or tortie male would be XXY

It's very unlikely Dusty is male, but a photo of the "business end" would make it clear to us.

There is the occasional male tortie, but so rare as to be a phenomenon.

In them thar hills...
as I read through the thread, I have to agree that if this is a male cat with those colors, it is like a few chance in a million...... They are so extremely rare.

Blue tortie domestic shorthair.

I must say I have seen several tortie males in cat shows, so it could be more common than many people think. But rare and unusual anyway.
