What cell phone provider and device do you have?

Thread Starter
After three frustrating days, I finally have a cell phone again. I had previously been a client of AT&T, but I found their data plans to be outrageously expensive. And, to make matters worse, their phones were far beyond any price point that I could afford. So, about a month ago, I switched to Sprint. I had a Blackberry to start, but quickly upgraded to the LG Optimus S (Android, 3G). However, after the switch, I found that I was dropping numerous calls per day and then had issues with voice quality. And, when it came down to the customer service agent I spoke with, I decided to cancel my service. I was told I was within my 30 days and would not have to pay an early termination fee, but that turned out to be wrong. And, after a call from their service center came in telling me that it was my device and not the service that was an issue, I decided to reinstate my plan. Well, that would've been all well and good, but it took MANY phone calls to get things situated. Finally, I'm set and my new phone arrived today, but I am still leery and am waiting for the next shoe to drop, so to speak. Even after talking to numerous customer service agents and checking my account online (everything appears to be correct), I am having trouble trusting that some crazy issue won't arise and throw me off. But, I'm trying to have faith and just let go of my anxiety over the situation. However, this post isn't really about all of that, I'm more interested in what cell phone provider and devices you have. And, of course, whether you're happy with the service and the phone.

As for me, I just received my Samsung Nexus S 4G from Sprint. It's a Google phone and, so far, I really like the design. The voice quality is excellent and I have the same access to all of the apps and programs that I had with the LG Optimus (which I didn't like). The screen colors are vivid and the screen responds to a light touch, which I like. It's intuitive to use, but it'll take me a while to figure everything out and get comfortable with all of the available features. And, I have to stop at the Sprint store this evening after work so that I can buy a gel cover and screen protector. This phone is way too expensive for me not to protect (I do have insurance on it). I'm hoping my issues with devices and Sprint is in the past because their customer service team, as a whole, has been wonderful. And, I don't want to have to figure out another phone to buy. I was lucky to get this one free as an upgrade. I don't think I'd make it through this process again and this phone is mine for a year, at the minimum. I'm just thankful to be back "up and running."

So, what provider do you have? What phone do you have? And, do you like it? Inquiring minds would like to know . Okay, it's just my mind that wants to know, but still...

I have T-Mobile and I have had them for years and I love them. I have never been placed on hold with them. A physical person answers when I call (after the short press whatever button to get you to the right representative) I have service almost everywhere I go, including middle of no where Ohio and Virginia on the way to the beach. I don't have service in the basement at work and typical places like that. Its just great. I also have the Motorola Cliq which is a great phone. I recommend them!

I'm one of the few cool people who don't even have a cell.

I got screwed over by my last provider pretty badly and it sort of turned me off of cell phones for the time being. I have been considering getting one again. Although, I am not really into the super high tech phones that do everything short of wiping your butt for you. I have a digital camera that goes everywhere with me, I DESPISE texting and have a computer for all my internet needs, what the heck do I need a phone that does all that for? I only need it for emergencies. I was offered a Blackberry recently but I have no clue how to use one. For 28 years old, I am pretty technologically impaired.

I have Verizon, and never had an issue with them. My phone is a Pantech. One of few phones left that does not have internet browser or data used programs. I like it the same though

I have an iPhone 4 (and love love love it beyond belief - yes, I'm one of those folks ) with Rogers, however that doesn't actually help you, since Rogers is Canadian, sorry. GL though, I really hope your provider quits messing around now and lets you enjoy your new phone in peace! Is this your first non-Blackberry smart phone besides the one you had briefly?

Im with Virgin Mobile in Canada, and am currently using the Samsung Galaxy SII which is way above and beyond what I expected....I think its better than my actual computer .

I have a low-tech phone with TracFone. I've had it for years. It makes and receives calls and I can text. Nothing fancy, but gets the job done.

Just an FYI, TMobile is now owned by AT&T.

I have an i phone4 my carrier is AT&T, expensive yes gut excellent voice quality.
I had Sprint but had issues with dropped calls and nonexistent service at my house (I have no landline) was let out of my contract early with no penalty. The tower had been damaged in a storm and month after month of them saying it would be fixed THAT month I could take it no longer so after 1 year and 3 months of not being able to make or get calls without standing in a spot in my backyard I switched. I did not have good experience with Sprint whatsoever.

I have a basic tracfone.I don't need anything fancy since I have a house phone and internet.

I have an LG 8360 flip phone, fully web capable.
My provider is Verizon.

I have net10, won't ever do a contract again. Plans are cheap and I got a really awesome phone for $30, LG 900g. It's like a slightly less fancy blackberry. Still does internet, has an MP3 player, camera, video, app capable, qwerty keyboard. And I think it makes phone calls, but I'm not certain .

I'm with Boost Mobile and have a Samsung Prevail (droid phone) I love it! My plan will go down to 35 dollars (plus and extra 5 for the phone protection) after I complete their shrinkage deal and that's for unlimited everything.

I have Virgin Mobile with a very basic phone, which suits me fine. I pay around $15 every three months (unless I use it more), don't use it to do anything than occasional calls and ever more occasional text. I have no desire to browse the web, watch movies, listen to music, whatever on my cell phone.

With the provincial phone company (they have the best coverage) but only have a krazer. I love the thing but pretty soon I will not be able to use it when the 4G upgrade is complete.

I am with Cellcom a company based in Wisconsin. I have a Motorola Hint which I did not have to pay extra for email. But the basic buttons wore quite quickly but I had in in water by accident in my car earlier this summer without damage to the phone just the battery. Actual phone service at my house is just fair-the downside of rural living. Cellphone towers just too far away. My neighbor has a verizon phone and has to stand outside to talk-not fun in the winter. My sister's Iphone gets no signal at my house.
I have verizon mobile broadband for internet-its a bit better than dial up but drops out of 3G quite a bit so I cannot usually watch U Tube for instance.
Not sure if any of the other cellphone providers would be better as the closet tower is about 3 miles away then goes to over 10 miles away more more towers-just a bit of a dead zone unfortunately.

I have 3 phones on a family plan with ATT (under $150/month). 2 phones have data (they are iPhones) and one is a "throw away" go phone on our contract. We have wi-fi at home, so we don't eat much data. Both the iPhones have unlimited data.

I do though, have 3GS iPhones and really don't have many complaints. They were $49. Since I have a Mac, it's been much easier with everything to have an iPhone.

I used to be with Sprint but my GOD was paying close to $100 for crap. Never again. One day, when I was eligible for an upgrade, they decided to tack on an additional $10 for my smart phone. BS. It may be "unlimited" but if I barely use any data I can get a much cheaper rate elsewhere--and I did.

I have an AT&T iPhone4. I LOVE my iPhone. yep, I'm one of those people too.

If you were paying $100 before with Sprint, but now you are paying $150 for the same thing, I don't understand how you think you were being ripped off?? It could be that you feel this way because you have the unlimited data, but that's going away soon, so now you will be paying more for only 2GB of data. (I work at Radioshack so I've compared all the plans together and Sprint's is the cheapest.)

I have Sprint with the EVO 4G. It's a great phone, but I had to go through three lemons before I got one that worked properly. I am thinking about switching to Verizon however because 75% of the time I'm in areas that have low signal so I get dropped calls all the time.

Also for anyone wondering, a Google phone, Android phone and Droid phone are the same thing.

I have Verizon service, and I love it. I travel frequently, and I can get a signal from a lot of places that others can't. I also have had great experiences with their customer service. Plus I get a discount through work, so that helps, too. I currently have an LG EnV Touch, but I need a new phone. I can't decide between an iPhone, Droid or Blackberry.

iPhone 4 on the Verizon network. I couldn't be any happier with my experience. Plain & simple.

Prior to that, still on Verizon, I had the Blackberry Tour. It was also a good phone - I liked how customizable the interface was - but not even in the same galaxy as the iPhone performance-wise. There is one thing Blackberry has over iPhone: BRICKBREAKER!!!!! to which I am still hopelessly addicted, and I still have my old phone, totally wiped but I keep it charged and use it to play Brickbreaker

I have Verizon...Expensive but hands down the best provider in my opinion. I have the Droid X (I copied off on Winchester when I saw her phone I fell in love and jumped on it when I had my upgrade)

One thing I learned the hard way was that even though these phones are made for use they are not made for my kinda use. I fried two phones in two weeks from my internet usage and massive amounts of typing so I got my computer turned back on to cut back on my typing so I didnt fry the keyboard again. Haha I learned my lesson that Im ridiculously HARD on my phones cuz I use the heck out of them!!!

Yep, love my Droid X! I ridiculously love my X! DH loves his Droid X, too. We're on Verizon. We also have my MIL on our plan and we pay for her every month. She has a regular clam-style phone and it suits her purposes. It's expensive for the three of us, but it's well worth it in our opinion. DH wasn't happy about going to Droids; I'm the one who pushed the idea. But now? Just try taking that phone away from him....not going to happen.

We have unlimited everything. We both browse the web, we text constantly with each other during our day at work and with relatives and friends, I email quite a bit on my phone now, too. On Tuesday with the earthquake, everybody and her sister was texting me, just checking up. (Which they say is better than trying to make phone calls as texts have a better and faster chance of getting through than phone calls.)

DH and I are both big Angry Birds fans. I also have Word Wrap and Word Twist on my phone and play those, too. And most of the time, that's how I take my pictures now. I always have my phone with me, but don't always have my camera with me. I even take the Droid with me in the field for work and then email my pictures back to the office, so they're ready for me when I get back.

I guess I'm one of those people, too, only with a Droid instead of an iPhone.

Love my Droid X.

I have an HTC Thnderbolt, (Android 4G) and my carrier is Verizon. I was the only person among my friends that didn't lose service on Tuesday after we had the little quake tremors.

I'll be sticking with Verizon, especially since we are hosting hurricane Irene on Sunday.

I have Verizon, and my phone is a BlackBerry Tour. I probably will upgrade to a HTC Thunderbolt or HTC Merge next month though. My friend works for Verizon and can get me a great deal on the Merge. Might also wait to see what other phones come out in between. My "Loyalty" discount is in Sept ontop of my already available upgrade. I love my Tour, but it's beginning to freeze/get slow, and I'd love an Android phone.

I've only ever had 1 bad experience with Verizon about 4 years ago, but everything else has been good. I have the unlimited data plan, which will be grandfathered for as long as I keep a smartphone on the plan (because Verizon switched to tiered data in July).

It's not really possible to fry a phone from typing too much on it or using the internet too much. Phones are similar to computers. Even if you type on a computer for hours and hours every day, it's not enough to cause it to burn out. It takes years of wear to actually fry them, though usually it's a clogged up hard drive/virus damage/heat damage that ruin computers.
You just got some lemons is all.
