I went to a sleepaway camp for a week once, when I was 13. I got really sick from the lake water and stayed in the cabin the last 2 days. I never did that again! Lol.

I used to go to Girl Scout camp when I was really young (first couple years it was only day camp, then it was sleepover for a weekend), and then I would go to horse camp every summer from the time I was in 5th grade until the summer before my senior year in high school and I would stay for two weeks. I loved camp!!

I feel so weird! Hahah. I'm extremely introverted so camp was never my "thing". The idea of sharing a room with a bunch of gossipy girls sounded torturous!
It's the same reason I went to community college my first year of school... there's NO way I was living in a tiny room with someone else!

Yes. Sleep away wilderness camp. Up in the northern Adirondack Mountains. We camped, canoed, biked, and hiked. In addition, we had horses and rode several times a week. We cooked our own meals as we moved into the older groups, and it was just good clean out door fun. Hard work, no indoor plumbing, and we learned how to survive. It really fostered my love of hard work and the outdoors.

Best summers of my life. My sons would love it if we could afford it, my daughter would ask what she did wrong and why was she being punished.

My camp was co-ed, so we shared quarters with the boys. Somewhat separate cabins, but they were literally right there...

Now that's an interesting way to learn about boys. We learned they snore, smell and have gas. Lots of gas.

Yes my mother forced me to go a couple of summers. I hated it, and had many fights with her over it.

Nope. One year we did a thing called "Summer Rec", which was basically day care + activities off the regular property
My brother went to camp one or two years, but I never did.

Yes I went camping a lot as a teenager. I loved everything about it--fishing, hiking, sleeping out under the stars!!
Then I got older and electricity and running water became more important to me.
