My name is Laurie Ann. Not named after family members, just a name my parents liked. I don't love it, don't hate it. I like the way it's spelled.
Hey, me too! Well, minus the Noel part, my middle name would have been the same, but I was due on Christmas day and would definitely have been named Holly had I been born before, on, or after it but still in December. But then I was born 10 days late, after the new year, so they felt like it would be weird and that they had to scrap Holly. I'm glad, it's not my style personally. And I'm agnostic, so a bit weird, though at least I could have made myself focus on the fact that it's actually a "nature name" instead.Originally Posted by white cat lover
It could've been worse - if I was born but a few weeks earlier (close to Christmas) I would've been named Holly Noel. Not believed in any particular religion, that would've sucked.
Haha, it must be an "-et" ending thing; people are forever asking me if it's Juliet, Juliette or Juliett (Juliette is a logical enough guess IMO, but Juliett just seems weird to me, to assume that's the most likely spelling, I meanOriginally Posted by Mystik Spiral
People always want to spell it Bridgette or Bridgett though...

And honestly, I just think it's pretty.Eek, I sound conceited, I promise I'm really not!
That said, I could really do without all the dumb, "So where's your Romeo?" and similar comments (wow, you're so witty, random stranger, I have never heard that one before), the quoting of well-known lyrics from the play(except it seems there's a lot of confusion about the "wherefore art thou" part - it's, "Wherefore art thou Romeo?" random strangers, not, "Wherefore art thou Juliet?" If you're going to make a lame, unfunny comment, at least get it right) - and in more recent years, "Oh, like on Lost?" (uh, I guess?). There are days I swear I'm going to punch the next person who says any of the above (I would never, ever actually do so, it's just tempting sometimes).
