Buying a cat tree.

Hi All,

I am sure you all have cat tree's, okay many of them . I would like to know what companies you have all used and would do business with again .

If possible could you leave the companies name and number? Or website if applicable.

Lastly could you tell me if the product you got was well made? My Savannah destroyed all my cat trees in the year I have had him . O and before you ask it is way more broken then a re-carpet job .

I have a California cat condo. It's small, about 2.5 feet off the ground, cute, and good for what I need right now. I cannot see it lasting Kairi into adulthood. The top platform keeps loosening every time I tighten the screw.

If he weighed 10 pounds, not 2, it would have been apart by now, the way he jumps on it.

No recommendation here.

I 100% recommend armarkat - they have a site you can google.

The trees look nice, they are great and sturdy even Kismets portly rear does fine on it. ALSO most of the cats I have ever seen have loved them.

I have photos and videos of my Kis on his new armarkat tree I need to post on here... I give them 100% reco tho.

I got my first 2 trees custom made by some local arsetart and they were crap. Never again! Armarkat for me from now on

Recently bought an Armarkat cat tree off Overstock.com. Seemed a fair price with free shipping, And most imortantly the cats love it!

I get the cozy inns for the most partfrom petsmart goes on sale to 69.99 but more often 79.99, reg 99.99.

I also have some more heavy duty trees that are not listed, they are taller then me. I go to petsmart often and just keep seeing what they reduce/black friday I got a few too.

I have a few from petco that are the kitty tunnel tower they are about 2-2 1/2 feet tall.

My trick is NOTHING that has to be assembeled/came boxed to the store. it gets loosened way to fast with all my cats. Hit any petstore in your area-sometimes I find the best deals at the smaller ones who over ordered and just have to get it OUT of the store.

Considering how large most trees are, I am sure that the ones you see assembled were delivered to that store in nice small little boxes.

Personally, I've been very happy with my two armarkat trees. If concerned about loosening, you can always use a drop of blue locktite available at home depot.

The steps are left off, as they are unnecessary unless you have a geriatric cat, and the stock dangler toys are choking hazards since they are so easy to chew off, but its simple to replace those. Amazon.com had it cheapest due to free 2-day shipping when I was shopping.

Most of our cat trees were bought from GoPet Club on ebay. Its usually free shipping and the prices have been pretty good. I currently have three trees and the cats love them. The nakeds are quite weighty (10 and 11 lbs) and hit them running!! They rough and tumble constantly! They are holding up well
post #8 of 28
Actually in all the time my sister worked at petsmart the big ones came assembled. Petco DOES have the option to have(SOME) the trees assembled for a fee-those are the ones that look like the photo you posted. They also have predone ones-I have bought them at the store and online.

Also keep in mind I have alot of cats abusing these trees so mine take a lot of beating. When I had a few cats those trees were great!

Curious has anyone ever bought the "trees" that went on the back of the door-not the mesh netting type but the solid platforms by smartcat or the like

I have a "Molly and Friends" cat tree...got it from Amazon.com (just do a search or look up that brand under pet products). I paid apx. $275 for it when I got it (about 3 years ago)..the model I got (the 4 level with 2 beds and 2 scoops) is now a little over $300.

All that said, this tree is made of solid wood and is very well constructed...It comes assembled and with Amazon, I got free shipping! It came in a box the size of a fridge. :P The tree has no staples and no exposed glue or thread...and even I can stand on one of the scoops without it warping, breaking, or falling over (I weigh about 110). My cats can run at full tilt and jump to the top level and it won't budge. It weighs about 60lbs, I'd guess and has a wide base (about 2.5 x 2.5 feet). The carpet and sisal rope are still in good condition, even after being used by my 3 cats.

I would not buy a different brand of tree unless I could see it and test it first...all the others I've seen were far more wobbly and just as expensive (i.e. the ones at petsmart, etc.). Before this one I had a crappy one off of ebay that I had to assemble myself and it had cheap carpet and was very wobbly.

Hope this helps!

Molly and Friends appears to be a premium brand, like the BMW of cat trees. The price reflects it though, with the tall trees approaching $500 in my search.

Amarkat I would say is more midgrade then, as it is durable enough but definitely not that any person could stand on a platform as described without it snapping like a twig. I'd say its more like a Ford Mustang, and the taller trees are mostly still under $150 accordingly.

Just depends on your budget.

I was actually looking for an escalator type tree, which armarkat does not have but molly does:

http://www.amazon.com/Molly-Friends-...974353&sr=1-23

That's exactly what I'm looking for....

But yeah, $412 shipped... youch!

Not sure where you are in texas but there are 2 retailers listed at mollyandfriends.com and you can see the full line of trees at that site. With a cat or a few cats that things going to last a LONNNNGGGG while.

Had fun on this thread seeing all these trees. Some credit cards/mr rebates help with some companies getting cash back I have done that for some time now...somethings better then nothing off:S

A bit off topic, but if you use swagbucks you can redeem your points for Amazon.com gift cards. I think you also can with Air Miles, but not 100% sure on that. The nice thing about swagbucks is that all you have to do it search and you earn points - obviously, some searches don't earn you anything though.

This is the model I got. It is now $304.99 and has free shipping. It's about 6 ft. tall, so plenty big enough for all 3 of my cats to fit on at once.

This is the model I wanted. But they were out of stock when I ordered the other one in the past...and it's STILL out of stock atm. It is $305.88.

Hope this helps!

I just got this one from PetCo, and my cats LOVE it. Replaced the toys immediately, as they chewed through the cheap elastic. Left the ramps on for the ferret

Thanks for posting your review, I'd never heard of Molly and Friends and I'm looking for a cat tree for my babies.

I find this place the cheapest and it has some pretty awesome trees.

I think that by far the largest selection and best quality is at:

www.CozyCatFurniture.com

Not cheap, but the selection and quality are both awesome.
Kitty Scratch Post sells alot of the trees all you guys posted and if you compare prices they are quite abit cheaper.

Mind you, I don't know if it';s cheaper with shipping, since I've only looked into shipping to Canada but the actual price is cheaper.

I also got this one at the beginning of the year at PETCO. I also left the ramps off. I paid $130 for it and the cats love it. I was able to put it together and I am not good at that sort of thing.

My hubby made an awesome one for Bijou and Mika which I posted pictures of a couple years ago when he made it. It looks as good today as when he made it but we spent over $300 just on materials alone and it's very well made. It would have to be for our big boy at 20+ pounds.

I've had my two Armarkat trees for going on five years now, and I love them. They're sturdy enough to withstand getting beat on by six cats (who will chase each other up and down the trees). Also, when a piece gets worn out, you can order a replacement piece for a very reasonable cost.

The second tree counting from the left and the last tree on the right are Armarkats. The leg on the first tree is beginning to unravel in this pic; I think it cost me about $20 to replace it.
