So I finally cleaned my room and sorted through the college luggage.
Guess who benefits the most from my efforts?

By the way, it was 104°F (40°C) today, a perfect day to stay inside.

Simba Yim looks so happy! I love your window shelves and plants, you built them? I have similar window shelves for both my plants and Maia, she has her own carpeted perch with a ramp

@cheylink - The plants are all my Mom's doing! ^_^ I just moved back home from graduating from college to see the plants have overtaken my room. How is Maia taking the heat?

@captiva - He ate some sprouting shoots of orchids so we moved them to where he doesn't go. He really loves those new buds. Perhaps they make the tenderest/best salad? The other plants he leaves alone. So I made him a green squash mash and he seems happy with his summertime dessert.

@konstargirl - Yeah! It was almost record-breaking heat. (108 would have been the record.)
Yeah, Simba is great.
Thanks for remembering the fishies. None of the tanks are in direct sunlight so they will be just fine. Today is also going to be hot so I won't be tempted to leave the indoors.

When we built our house in Arkansas, I specifically put wide sills on all the windows. I called them our "fat-bottomed cat sills." They loved them. Most of our cats have a favorite sill. And our last two fosters, Tiger and ZZ, both loved sleeping on the sill in the kitchen, where they have bird and squirrel entertainment.

When I'm reborn, can I be your cat?

Simba looks nice and cozy!
I guess that's the trouble with ten boogers + fosters! You wouldn't know where to put the plants if they are all wanting to get at the new shoots.

You would think so... but his favorite spot to sleep is in my chair!
(when I would like to sit in it...)

We don't live in that house currently; my brother does, with his herd of cats.

However, one criterion when we bought our current house was wide enough and low enough window sills for the cats to sit in.

The house was inconsequential. My request was in reference to your videos, pictures, and from reading your stories. The cats whose lives you touch live better than kings!

I just love Mr. Simba! He's so pretty!

I always said that I wanted window sills wide enough for kitty butts. Alas, we don't have ANY window sills in our house. We have the cat napper in our bedroom and we have the bay window in the living room. That's it.

As soon as we open the windows, though, the cats will jump right in. The narrowness between the window and screen doesn't seem to bother them and they manage to fit those butts in there fairly well.

Love your mom's plants, too. They wouldn't last five minutes in my house. I would dearly love to have house plants, but the cats simply won't allow them. That's why my office here at work is crammed full of plants of all kinds.

Aww thanks for the love as always!

I'm even more grateful for Simba leaving those plants alone after hearing all these stories of planticide!

Also, it's not a sill! It's a board I'm propping up under the plant pots and over my bookshelf!

Here are a few snapshots of brushing time. Simba has become my mom's third child!

It looks like it's going to be his very favorite spot. Jamie has window platforms attached to the sills in the living room and kitchen and spends hours there every day, sunning himself and bird/people watching.

I remember my mom picking up a buffet at the Salvation Army to put in front of a window just for her cat. She had a cushion and plants on it for Ginger to "hide" behind.
