The cats on the " WHY SOME PEOPLE SHOULD NOT HAVE PERSIANS" are in sad shape. I can't imagine letting a cat get in that condition, unbelievable. *sigh*

Is that the one about the cat with no legs, and who is unable to use the cat litter? I read it, and I was crying.

yup- thats him. His adoptive mom has a special place in the house for him with linoleum floors to make it easier for him to get around, and she has a low litter box he has learned to use. What a special, lucky boy

I am amazed at the amount of declawed ones- I thought most breeders put no declaw in their contracts?

Most reputable breeders do put a no declaw in their contracts. But I'm sure many owners go ahead and declaw anyways since the breeder is very unlikely to drop by to check on the cat.

Or these cats were from 'unethical' breeders and the purchasers had no contract or conditions stated when they made the purchase.

I don't understand how a person could spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on a purebred cat and then declaw it. First of all, it is a mutilation. Secondly, it automatically disqualifies it from being shown. I just found out yesterday that CFA requires all cats, in all levels including household pets, to have claws on all four paws.

It's kind of like going out and buying a brand new Lamborghini and then ripping out the seats and busting the windows.
