When Tosha starts meowing (which she is normally non-vocal) and leading us to the back of the house we all know what she wants. She likes to have new food all the time. The food that is left out in her bowl has to be remixed with our hand. Even though it is the same food if we stir it with our hand she will start eating it again. Strange.

Also she will only drink running water. I have never seen her drink out of her water bowl. I change it several times a day. She does not drink out of the commode either. She is a little too snooty to do that. She will only drink out of the faucets. My husband said if we (the girls and me) wouldn't do it she would learn to drink out of her bowl. But after 4 1/2 years she has a trained pretty good.

My Mishmish is just like that with the water. I have seen her drink from her water bowl but whenever she sees one of us walk by the bathroon she makes it very clear that she wants us to get some running water for her to drink.

I know that there's a special fountain-like water bowl for cats that prefer running water. I can try and put one in the TCS shop for you, if you like.

Funny about the food... She obviously really wants to feel that you're there for her. I think it's really sweet!

My cat is doing the same thing! She won't eat her food if it's been sitting out for awhile, and mixing doesn't seem to help. She'll only eat it if it's fresh from the bag. It's weird, because up until a month ago she'd empty her bowl every day!

She won't drink out of a water dish either - she prefers the toilet actually. The cat we had when I was growing up prefered to drink out of the bathtub - he'd sit there and wait until someone came in to put the plug in and turn the tap on. I should try that with Tabby...

I guess my cats don't have much choice of where to drink, since they are outside, they have to drink out of their water bowl.

My cat Sidney also prefers to drink from the faucet. And yes, she does have me trained. I don't mind, though. I enjoy the communication I have with her. She has learned to mimic the sound I make by saying the word "water." So I know exactly what she wants. Usually, she is in the bathroom sink scratching which makes it obvious to me that she wants me to turn on the faucet. However, she will drink from her water bowl.
Sometimes Sidney will also not eat if I don't mix it with my fingers. But generally, she will just begin eating when I feed her. I don't keep food out for her during the day. My vet advised me to put her on a feeding schedule once she hit a year old. She has learned to eat when I put her food out.
And again, sometimes she will mimic the sound I make by saying the word, "eat."

My two cats will come up to you like they want something and then they lead you to their food bowl where they start eating. It's like they have to have company during dinner.

Also, Georgia has to have a cuddle in the morning before she will go to her food. I have also seen her drinking from the table outside if it has rained heavily the night before. It is very rare that she drinks out of her bowl.
