Neighborhood Friends

So I'm bored and thought I would show off some of the critters that wander into my yard on a regular basis

I heard a "bang" outside and looked out but didn't see anything. Then I noticed the garbage bin was knocked over, it was pouring out and soooo windy so I thought the wind did it, it was 4 in the afternoon, looked out my bedroom window a bit later into the backyard and seen Mama and her babies having some supper.....

Hubby was BBQing one day, and we were talking through the screen door when he was like "HOLY CRAP, go lok out our bedroom window" and here was this bull...again it was raining.

I was cleaning my bedroom one day and just happened to look out the window and seen this precious little baby, my heart broke every time I seen him since his Mama got shot, he was left to fend for himself

This is a bad picture but I didn't take it This fox actualy barked at us because we were standing on the deck....brave little thing

This guy was actually first seen basking on our front deck, LOL he hung around for a few days.

My precious little squirrel who hung around all winter, I used to make him PB sandwiches

And this bear was just too funny, I was laying on the couch with my youngest son watching Mickey Mouse and the dogs kept growling and barking out the window.....so I looked out and seen this beauty. I think he thought I couldn't see him....

I had the wrong settings set on the camera so this pic is crappy but I had just scooped the litter boxes and set them outside on the deck waiting to take them to the garbage bin when Craig looked out and this guy was just about ready to tear into the bags....I ran for the camera and he ran for the trees, this is the only pic I got before he ran off

The boys were skateboarding last Summer on the road when this young cow stepped out...I didn't have time to zoom in, nothing before a car came and scared her away.

Wow! Those are quite the neighborhood friends you have there!!

OMG......what wonderful neighbors you have. I much prefer them to the two legged kind!

Just lovely pics....sweet little bear.

Wow! That is awesome. Moose are about the most awkward looking creatures, aren't they? The best we have is deer who sometimes hang out by the road at night and there are a few turkeys that I see every once in a while down the road.

I think your vistors relatives live at my house, except the snake and raccoon. We have a Mama bear, she loves to sit under our neighbours apples trees around 11 at night.

these were in my driveway

The bear scratched the car when hubby parked it beside the garbage bin

We have moose and deer that run up and down the street occcasionally eating an apple or two. We have a Mama fox I think she is beautiful, but not thrill she eat the feral cats.

They're so big! These guys are funny because they hang out at the same spot by the road all the time. Which is nice because you know to be careful when driving. I was headed out to work one morning and the biggest one had decided to "strut his stuff" in the middle of the road. He had 5 or 6 cars waiting for him to move along...

Wow you've got an interesting group of wildlife there
post #15 of 26
OMG wow, what amazin neighbours you have, I would poop myself if I looked out of my window and saw a bear, I panic when a fox comes in the garden x

Great pictures. I could deal with them all, but the snake. There isn't room in the same acre of land for me and a snake. We have bears, coons, possums, deer, bobcats, squirrels, coyotes, and heaven only knows what else. You are brave to be taking their picures.

Wonderful pictures, thank you so much for sharing! It makes my neighborhood feel so boring. All I have are drunk college students. Not nearly as photogenic.

Absolutely beautiful!!! My Mom has a lot of similar "friends" around her home as well and she's always calling me and telling me who's in her yard now.

LOL you guys are so funny

I usually take their pics from my bedroom or kitchen window so I'm safe...I do however go outside with them, I like to see how close I can get before they run away

What fantastic pictures! And what amazing friends! Around here, we do have a bear or two, lots of deer, etc. Keep posting your pictures...I really enjoyed seeing them.

I will

They should be all waking up soon....well the Moose are all out, actually we just lost a Moose last week The coyotes chased her and she fell off a cliff basically, then she paced and paced all night, the rangers came the following morning and they used the skidoos to make a trail so she could get out but she wouldn't, she just continued to pace. The vet came and tranquilized her so they could move her (she was in the ditch on the side of the highway). She was COVERED in ticks and fleas, you could see the ticks crawling on her and she was missing alot of fur on her belly.

The vet gave her a shot to kill the bugs, they moved her but she just never really ever woke up. They suspected she was sick before they moved her, she was a young cow, there was no reason for her to pace and she should have charged the rangers when they got too close....also she should have been awake within 20 mins after they put her under. She woke up, moved to the top of a hill and went back to sleep Poor thing.

It's a cell phone pic my friend took but here she is

I wish she would have made it, it's so heartbreaking

Awwww bless her heart

Most of us don't stop to think about how hard it is for wild animals just to survive. The poor thing.

You're absolutely right....it breaks my heart when I hear about how many didn't survive over the Winter mths. There are so many Moose hit here by vehicles, alot of people hate them but the thing is they don't realize that it's US whose pushed these animals out onto the roads, etc.

Wild animals sure don't have any easy life, that's for sure. We've never had coyote problems until the last 2 years, people are shooting them left, right and center since they're killing off so much. My friend that took the pic of that Moose has 4 horses, well a couple of weeks ago a coyote was in her fields, ALL DAY with her horses. He didn't hurt them and the horses didn't get spooked or anything, finally the coyote stole a halter out of the barn and took off

My neighbour saw a fox leaving my garden across into his on Christmas Eve. We knew we had them in the trees at the bottom of the garden, but never seen them actually in the gardens?. I put my turkey carcass out on Christmas day night and it was gone 2 days later. Since then i've left my garden shed door wedged open slightly and put a bowl of cat kibbles in. I've only just stopped filling the bowl up because it's getting warmer

Well I guess I'll share my neighborhood friends too, though I don't have pics. We get huge possums at night, I mean bigger than the cats! We also have little lizard things running around, sometimes INSIDE.. and small birds of course, the occasional bird of prey, and squirrels, and neighbor cats including our Mister friend.

Though I havent seen any, there are coyotes in the area, they often use the storm channels to get around, and our yard backs up to one of them. A friend only a few miles away had his chihuahua killed by a coyote. Scary and sad. One more reason to keep the cats indoors!!
