Oh, that's great.

I'm so glad that she is alive and well. I guess she just fancied a change of scenery. It's nice that the old lady doesn't mind her hanging around. They must be good company for each other.

Is the lady feeding her?

Good of you to help a neighbour out when she needed it.

Feeding is bit of problem, she thinks that cat will be fine by eating mice and other rodents.

I think that Mauku felt place being bit too crowded as 6 of them were in house, she has there large forests that are easy to walk and many huge buildings as well as huge yard to sit on.

Only thing I'm really unhappy with is that now it is impossible for me to tame her further, she was quite nicely tolerating petting already, but now I don't think that will proceed further. I wanted to get her socialized as everyone says it would be completely impossible to do if cat has been first 4 or 5 years without human contact.

But all the better that she can now enjoy her days.

I'm not sure what comes of Panther and Miuku, they refused to come indoors last evening and spend night outdoors, or then they did use warehouse as shelter, but there is but they both have been on yard or nearby forest, also quite many times they have come to ask pettins and then rolled on their backs, so I guess they are not planning to move far away but are more of enjoying warm days and easy prey as grass is not growing yet, but snow has melted, it is easy for them to hunt mice and such now.

I made few traditional fences and even they can walk easily past those, they have now decided to stay within fenced area, I'm not sure if they will choose so later on too, but it is interesting coincidence or maybe they understand what fence is?

I guess that Mauku is quite an experienced hunter and will able to find what she needs. Also, she knows that she can come back to your place if she gets really hungry. A lot of my feral cats show up 2 or 3 times a day in the winter when there isn't much food around, but only once or twice a week in the summer. I nice juicy mouse must be tastier than a bowl of cat food.

As far as getting her socialised goes, it seems to depend as much on the cat's personality as on how long they have been without human contact. Some of the older cats I feed were at least 5 years old when I moved into this area, but now let me pick them up and pet them. On the other hand one three year old female that I've been caring for since before she was born. (Her mother showed up as a very skinny, pregnant stray) doesn't like being petted that much and refuses to stay indoors. She shows up at meal times, but only if she feels like it, and screams at me if I try and pick her up.

I can understand why Panther and Miuku want to spend more time outdoors now too, nature is so nice now that spring has arrived. I had over 20 cats in the house when it was snowing, but now there are just three curled upon the sofa and the rest are all off in the fields somewhere.

They'll come back when they fancy a head rub or a snack.
