Mass displacement?

I always believed that cats can displace their own mass to change their size...after all, how else could I explain how this:

becomes this:

We've dubbed it his "flat-cat" pose, since he's not draped off Mike at all...he just flattens himself into a giant orange pancake.

Oh my! That is hilarious! I love it when my skinny boy, Raven, flattens himself out like that.

LOL, love it!! I think Solomon does that too, I always do a double take like "did he gain a ton of weight and i didn't notice??" and then he gets up and is slim and then sometimes he is normal

Hysterical!! I always wonder how they can do that!

OMG! That's hysterical! He sure looks comfy though! So relaxed he just melted into a puddle of, well....cat!!!

I couldn't stop laughing when he did it - he just looks so silly.

To be fair to the big guy, though, this is a HUGE step for him. Wendel has serious social anxiety when it comes to interacting with people so Mike and I were so happy to see him starting to go lap-cat on us.

Our Bitty is like that but he starts out as a BIG boy at 18 pounds! We likes to spread himself out in doorways and hallways. His new name is Speed-Bump as he blends into the carpet and we often trip over him. Doesn't seem to bother him though as he just keeps on sleeping.

Goodness, could he possibly be ANY cuter?!?!?
