I am needing some vibes for my little Mitsy. She is my senior diabetic kitty (almost 15 years old). My husband was cleaning the litter boxes on Sunday and thought he had seen some blood in there but just dismissed it thinking he was seeing things. Well he wasn't.
On Monday night she was leaking urine with blood in it and was visibly not feeling well at all. We took her to the vet on Tuesday and she has a nasty UTI and is also very constipated. Our vet said if she didn't produce a stool in 2 days she would need an enema. Our poor little angel
. She is on 3, 1ml doses of lactalose in hopes that she would produce a stool. Well to my knowledge she still hasn't gone. It's hard to tell when you have 3 cats and they all use the same litter boxes. She has an appointment first thing tomorrow morning to be checked and to have an enema if there hasn't been any movement. I am crossing my fingers that she will go sometime during the night and the enema won't be necessary. She needs as little stress as possible. Thanks for reading my post.

My sons cat, Shadow, just went through this. They had to give the enema and clean him out. He was sent home with lactulose and it has been wonderful.

I could be wrong, but I think once your kitty is free of the impaction, the lactulose will work.

Poor Misty....it's the curse of the senior cat as my vet calls it.

Lots of for Mitsy! Jamie had to have an enema when he had a UTI, and it really helped him fast. He's usually horrible at the vets' office, but it didn't stress him out too much.

Lots of vibes for an easy vet visit and a quick return to feeling better for Mitsy - and for her mommy and daddy to be able to get a good nights's sleep soon!

Well Mitsy produced a good stool this morning.
My husband still brought her in and our vet thought it was best that we go through with the enema as he didn't feel things were moving as they should be. He said we made the right choice as she ended up needing two done. The first one went well and the second one she didn't tolerate as well.
Mitsy is now at home and resting. I am hoping she will be feeling back to usual self in a day or two. She is such a trooper! I would like to thank everyone for the good vibes. We have one more visit scheduled in 2 weeks to re-check her UTI to make sure all the infection is gone. Thanks again!

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
I sure hope those did the trick and everything's back on track! Will you be giving her lactulose regularly now - or did the vet think it was just a temporary thing?

She will be staying on lactulose for good.
She has been having constipation issues for sometime just not this bad. We have to watch her sugars closely and if they start to go out of whack we will probably switch to Miralx. We were lucky with her as her diabetes was under control within a matter of weeks and that was 4 years ago.
