Today's the day!!! (kittens!!!)

I'm about to leave to go and pick up Spencer and Katie! I called and Spencer is back to his normal self! What a little spitfire he was after surgery! Small, but he even scared me!

I spent last night and this morning sanitizing the bathroom so that it's sparkling clean from top to bottom. If they are going to live in there for a few days, then it needed to be spic and span! Also, I didn't want to chance them getting an infection since they just recently had surgery.

Litter box is set up. I have kitten food and a brand new bed for them.

This afternoon I'm going to pick up the cat tree, and tomorrow I'm getting baby gates from Wal-Mart! Carolina used them to intro Gracie and it looked great from the pictures. I figure I can get 2 and stack them one on top of the other and put them in the doorway of the bathroom when it is time for everyone to start seeing each other. Also, the way my apartment is set up, I can close my bedroom door, leave the bathroom one open and put the gate at the end of the short hall as it enters my living room. This will give them a little room to play before they integrate into the whole apartment.

I'm so excited!!!

I'll try and get pictures later today and post them in fur pics!!

I can't believe this! I'm going to be a Meowmy! Again!!! *Wheeeee*

They're home!!! Hardly a peep on the way home! Just a few meows from I think Spencer, when we went over a few bumps leaving the parking lot. Then quiet all the way home!

Abby was on the table when I got home, so I slipped right into the bathroom with the carrier and opened the door. Spencer was the first out and exploring.

We have a no closed door policy in my home, so Abby came and saw the bathroom door closed with me on the other side, and she meowed. Spencer started to growl and Katie was sniffing under the door.

I spent a few minutes in there, not long. I wanted them to calm down and explore on their own. I left the carrier in there with the door open so they can go in and out of a place that has their scent....and Abby's too because it's the same towel in there that I used to get her to and from the Vet a week ago.

Abby is laying outside the bathroom door, quietly. I think she's watching for signs of movement from under the door!

I put some kitten chow and a bowl of water in with them and Katie dived right in.

They've been home for a couple hours already. Settled in nicely to the bathroom.

Abby's been laying outside the door periodically. Doesn't seem stressed over them being here. No growls or anything.

I was reclining on the couch watching some TV and called Abby and she came right away. We spent about 1/2 hour cuddling and she got lots of brushes. She even slept for a little while on my chest near my neck.

I have to go and pick up the cat tree so I decided to go to the bathroom first. I spent 15 minutes in there with Spencer and Katie. I didn't think to take my camera because it was only supposed to be a quick stop before going out.

But Spencer was laying under the vanity beside the carrier and Katie was inside.

Spencer came out right away and climbed onto the top of the carrier and let me scratch and pet him while he purred. I picked him up but Abby meowed outside the door and he growled a little and wanted down.

Katie was watching from inside the carrier. When I put Spencer down, Katie came out and wanted some lovings too!

That little girl has chosen me already!!! She let me pick her up and she burrowed right in for the long haul! When I put her down on the cat bed, she stood up and put her paws on my knee wanting up again. Then when I put her down again, she went to the top of the carrier and tried to climb onto my lap for more!

Spencer eventually settled down and came to the top of the carrier and showed me his belly wanting rubs. I gave him chest and chin/head rubs. He purred up a storm.

When I came out, Abby was in a chair across the room watching the door. But she was just laying there all calm, front paws tucked under her like usual, just watching.

So far so good! I hope this is a sign as to how intros are going to continue to go.

I haven't seen any little paws poking out from under the door yet! But I imagine that will be coming!

I fully expect PICS too!!!

Got home with the cat tree. I bought the floor display model already assembled. I took a picture of it and I'll upload it when I upload pics of Spencer and Katie later today.

I'm heading to the bathroom ..... with my camera this time! I hope to get some cute pictures.

I'm taking a much needed nap before processing the pics though.

They are soooo quiet! I forget they are in there sometimes. The only peep I ever hear is when I go in there and pick them up. Katie purrs and squeaks. Spencer purrs and grumbles. He's really curious about what is on the other side of the door. He knows someone (Abby) is out there.

When I went in this evening to give wet food, take pictures and give cuddles, he ran out and started to explore. Abby was sitting on the chair across the room and didn't do anything. The chair was about 8 feet away.

I'm picking up baby gates tomorrow afternoon. I think I'll start using them tomorrow and see how things go.

JAIL BREAK!!!

I went in to give them their morning medications and wet food, and they both broke out!

First Spencer ran out. I thought he just went around the corner into the closet like yesterday. But I saw Abby run into the bedroom. I went running after her and sure enough there was Spencer sniffing his way to the closet

He crouched inside the door while Abby crouched near the bed hissing

I picked Spencer up and as I approached the bathroom, who do I see? Yep! Katie sniffing inside the closet near the bathroom! As soon as she saw Abby coming, she went back into the bathroom on her own.

I took Spencer into the bathroom and tried to give them their medications. No dice! They were too interested in the smell of wet food to allow me to hold either of them to give them anything! I ended up squirting it on their food and because it was such a little amount, neither of them noticed

Spencer snarffed down his breakfast. Katie daintily picked at hers. She seems to like to eat it over time instead of in one sitting.

They both washed, peed and played. And I managed to give each of them some cuddles.

So Abby finally got to see what was behind the door. They're pretty active today and there are all kinds of thumping sounds coming from the bathroom. It's keeping Abby pretty occupied! She doesn't even have time for "brushes" which is her favourite word/thing in the whole world!

She is thinking..... those noises better be juicy mice and not those pesky kittens I keep seeing!

I will be suprised if 2 baby gates will keep kittens contained lol. A solid door barely works. I saw that thread too, it is a great idea. Let us know if it works!

Off to see pic thread!!!!

Going to the bathroom is a challenge! I have kittens crawling all over me! Not that I mind!

I went in and found Katie running to greet me. And Spencer in the sink trying to catch his tail!

Katie was all over me. She seemed like she would want to go down. But as soon as I put her down, she was trying to get back up.

Spencer stayed mostly in the sink until I needed to use it. I had to lift him out. He had been rolling over and over enjoying his belly rubs.

Both are so gentle with my hands. They don't scratch or stick their claws out at all. And both enjoy getting their paws rubbed. So I hope clipping nails won't be a chore like it was with Abby when she first came to live with me. I had to clip hers when she was sleeping!

Abby is still getting her lovings! She laid on the back of the couch today and also on top of me as per her usual. Today is the day to take her sutures out. They will be easy to do because they are very obvious to see. It's just a matter of coaxing her to lay on me with her butt to the right because I'm right handed. So if she will do that, it will be easy. I did remove one already. She didn't even notice.

I had forgotten how agile kittens are! They are so wriggly and squirmy! It's like they don't have any bones!

I think Abby will be helping to keep them behind the gate, judging by her hissy reaction when Spencer went into the bedroom after his jail break!

Are you giving them medication for the pain from their surgeries? If so, I bet they'd be fine to stop it especially if they're acting like normal wild kitties! Neither Hannah nor Tumbles got pain meds once home from their surgeries for spay/neuter.

They sound simply precious! I do hope you have the capability of videoing them and their antics. I'd love to see them in action!
This is the first time I've been on TCS since the kitties came home, and I've been dying to know how things were going - and it couldn't possibly be better! YAY for jail breaks - sounds like it was a good thing.

I'm SO GLAD Abby isn't completely freaking out! And I haven't seen the pics yet, but they sound like the sweetest little darlings!

things continue to go smoothly!

Yes, it was Metacam. It was the last dose due, so I wanted to give it to them just in case. I figure they are kittens and will be jumping around no matter what.

Spencer had a hernia which was repaired too.

I'm happy that the vet sent home pain meds. I know that when a human has surgery they have pain afterward and are given pain medication. I think animals feel the same and should also get pain control.

No video camera I do have a video capability with my cheap digital camera, but I don't have a memory card other than what came with the camera. I think a video tapes for 20 seconds and that's it before the memory is full.

Poor Abby!

I put her in the bedroom and closed the door so I could let Spencer and Katie roam around for a bit and have an active play session.

Abby is meowing and pawing at the door wanting out so bad. I'm cutting the kittens freedom short and putting them back in the bathroom and putting up the baby gates and opening the bathroom door for them. "

I'll let them out into the living room again tomorrow evening for 15 minutes or so with Abby in the bedroom again.

Poor Abby! I'm loving your stories, though. And I'm jealous. It would be so nice to have kittens in the house again. The kittens are home!

They had fun with the laser pointer! They both chased it at high speed.

I put the baby gates up. Everyone is being so quiet while they check each other out. The 2 gates stacked on top of each other is pretty high. I doubt that they will get over the top at this point. Hopefully I can give up the gates by the end of the week anyway. I'm hoping anyway!

Abby is put out, but only mildly so.

Ohhhh! Abby just went right up to the gate to look through the holes. I heard a small growl. Not sure if it was Abby or one of the kittens. Spencer seems to be the growly one.

Ohhhhh!!! Abby is in front of the gate rolling around on the floor with a knitted toy I bought on Thursday. Tummy exposed!
