A few minutes ago I was cleaning the litterboxes and found in 2 of them, some very runny stool with a little blood in it. Im very concerned! I have 3 cats and all 3 use all the boxes. I have no way of telling which cat it came from and not only that, all 3 seem their normal selves and healthy and playful just like normal. Is this something that can just happen occasionally maybe from an upset tummy or something they ate that didnt agree with them? Or should I be really concerned? It just started because when I cleaned the boxes yesterday everything was normal. What should I do??

I have never had this problem with my cats. But I'd say to watch very carefully after each 1 goes into the box. When you find out which 1 it is, call the vet.

Do you happen to have some plants toxic to cats? That could easily be it.

No I dont have any plants in the house at all. Im not sure what they could have gotten into. Ive been watching all 3 of them for signs of not eating or acting different. So far they still all seem normal. Ill just keep watching them and hopefully its not anything serious

Is it bright red blood, sort of on the stool, or dark tarry blood in the stool? Bright red, and not a lot of it, is usually nothing too major, assuming kitty is fine otherwise - something to note in a diary or calendar and see if it recurs, but sometimes just happens if they're straining a bit during the movement. My vet said watch for one day and then call if things don't improve, or if there are other signs, such as lethargy, not eating, etc.

Dark tarry blood in the stool warrants a call right away, per my vet. My boy sometimes had bright red blood after a BM - just a trace, and usually when the stool was soft because the food disagreed with him or something on that order.

Having said all that - it never ever hurts to call the vet's office for advice.

What I do to find out who it is, is to separate each one in a room for 24 hours until I see a poop and pee. If it's normal then I know it's not that cat. I then go on to the next cat. That's the best way and easiest way if you can't follow them around 24/7 to watch when they each go potty.
