Does anyone know anything about Feline Greenies, Dental Treats Cats Love? I was in Pet Smart. A Natural Choice Cat Nutritionist was there, and she really wanted people to buy this for their cats. I told her I have kittens, she said it would help kittens teeth to, would help Midnight's baby fangs fall out. Is this product any good? Is it ok for kittens? I just went on her word. She said her cats have been eating this since they were kittens, and they've never had teeth problems.

I am fairly confident that one is NOT supposed to feed these to kittens, but they are marketed to be good for dental health, and they are DELICIOUS which makes them great as an incentive for training as well.

Kittens lose their baby teeth regardless, and I haven't ever heard of kittens having issues w/ plaque buildup or gums at such a young age to need to worry about it.

If you give them to kittens, I am sure it is no problem, but I would give them just one or half of one, not several as the packaging dictates.

Wow, really? I got these from my sister, and just grabbing the bag sends my kitties into a wild frenzie.

Perhaps that's just evidence of how bad Wellness wet and dry food tastes (their only alternative), lol!

Yeah I was shocked too after reading all of the reviews. My dog really enjoyed them though.

I had three cats at the time I tried some Greenies. Two wouldn't touch them and the one that did eat them swallowed the greenies whole (then vomited the two treats back up a short while later - corn issue cat). Rather pointless and a choking hazard.

My4LLMA - If you want to provide them with some preventative home dental care, brush their teeth. It's never too early or too late to get a cat used to it. Cats don't really chew any sort of dry food or treat, it's crunch and swallow so they really don't scrape the teeth clean that well.

They are good for dental health, but they are softer than dry food thus I doubt they help pull teeth out... IMHO Please call the store as that is information NOT authorized for that rep to be giving out

My cats LOVE them, in fact they are the only treats Nora will eat, but I don't know how much they help with cleaning teeth or anything like that b/c all of them swallow them whole. They may bite into one here and there, but for the most part they just go right down.

I gave them some, they did like, but they didn't even chew it they just gulped it down. I'm afraid they'll choke! So I think that's the last they'll get for awhile this is much bigger than even their dry food, and Midnight has choked on that before.

Strange Wings I don't think Midnight will go for teeth brushing, I wouldn't even know how to attempt to brush his teeth, with the way he fights, I'd probably knock out a few teeth!

Sharky who would I call? She didn't work for Pet Smart, she worked for Natural Choice. But she was promoting Natural Choice products in Pet Smart.

Ducman I agree this can't be for kittens, with the size of the pellets, and the way my 2 guzzled them.

I give them to Nora all the time and she has never once choked. *shrug*

So you're going to declare it a complete loss without trying? At the very least get a good pet tooth paste and use your finger to smear it on his teeth and gums. To get him used to a tooth brush, simply hold it out and let him chew on the head of it himself a few times so he's not frightened of it.

I have one cat that fights everything, yet I can brush her teeth. The secret is that she gets treats after and the better she behaves the more treats she gets rewarded with.

ALL of my cats love Greenies (no exceptions!), but I don't harbor any illusions that they actually do anything for dental health. I just use them as treats.

Same here, but I will say that most of mine like them, or at least the ones in my house that like treats in general.

That he might let me do. I'll give that a try. As for Luna she'll let my father brush her teeth but no one else.

Neko loves greenies!! I too wouldn't recommend the amount it says to give on the back. Neko throws them up if she eats too many. I usually just allow up to 2 a day. They are great for training too... Neko learned to stand up like a meerkat for her greenies
I've got to get this photographed to share with you all!

I give four Greenies per cat, once a day, usually 2 or 3 days a week. The amount recommended on the back is ridiculous, I'd be giving my 12lb cat up to 20 per day according to the package!

Wendel loves them and Cotton loved them, but Freya and Sybil won't go near them.

I don't know how much they actually do for dental health, but I do find they work pretty good as a breath freshener for Wendel. I agree that the amount on the bag is silly...it looks like a plan to make you buy more bags more than a valid serving suggestion.

What city was this in? They are certainly not meant to help baby teeth fall out. I am sure she meant something like because they are larger and crunchy your kitten chewing on them may help them come out if they were lingering longer than they were supposed to. Much like a child biting into an apple. Just a thought?

Your kitten can eat them, they are a great treat. My Chester was never a treat eater, he always preferred a piece of my dogs kibble as a treat to any cat treat.
When I got some samples of the Greenies I was surprised he liked them. Every cat is different though, some like them and some don't. If your kittens eat them too quickly now maybe they just aren't for them just yet.

If you are unhappy with Greenies you can certainly return the unused portion with the receipt for a full refund to the store. If you have any other concerns you can contact Greenies Customer Care. The toll free number is listed on the Greenies website.

I hope I have helped answer your question in some way.

Good luck!
