Non-rx option?

Hi all,

We've had our older cat, Lily, on Royal Canin venison and green pea prescription food for about 8 months now. So far, it seems to be the only food that doesn't cause her hair to fall out. However, I don't feel great about having her on that food and am wondering if there's a more "natural" venison choice out there. Does anyone know something we might try? Thanks so much!

Discuss it with the prescribing vet... Natural balance is very close but still needs to be run by the vet

It's not Rx, but Innova EVO makes a venison canned food. They were recently bought out by P&G, so the formula has changed. Go to their website and print off the ingredients and take it to your vet.

Just adding (my boy is on prescription food for crystals) - definitely discuss with your vet, and, if the food is working, I wouldn't be in a big hurry to change it. Some of the ingredients might look iffy to you, but, to me, the proof is whether my cat is doing well on the food.

Most vets will be happy to work with you - just try to remember that prescription food is part of a total treatment of a condition; sometimes you can stop the 'medicine', sometimes you can't.

Definately discuss with Vet, but my vet put my kitten on Royal Canin Rabbit & Pea but it was out of our budget so we did a slow transition to Natural Balance and it went well. However, I cannot speak for your fur baby as to if it will work or not.
