Does anybody have a SnoWovel?

After spending over an hour (along with two neighbors) clearing the drive down to our houses this morning, I ordered one of these online for delivery on Tuesday, using the money my in-laws gave me for a gold necklace for Christmas. It's still snowing.

It's gotten very good ratings on Amazon.com and Amazon.de and sounds like it'll save our backs (both DH and I have bad backs, and mine definitely won't improve thanks to degenerated disks).

Does anybody know if it's as easy to use as it looks? The assembly is supposed to be horrible, but I'm off next week and will probably be snowed in anyway. I'm not worried about the neighbors laughing at me for it, since they've had to get used to the sight of a leash-trained cat, but DH might worry about that. He won't even consider a snowblower because he's extremely "green".

If it snowed here I would so have one of those! Have fun!

ooh that looks really good,I hate it when things look really easy to use and then they aren't when you get them but that does look really simple.xx

Interesting.....I don't know about DEEP snow though. It would probably be good to finish up after shoveling. If there is a drift 3 feet deep of packed snow, I don't know.

Let us know though....if it is good, yea, I'd get one!

I don't shovel snow, but from looking at that, I can see a huge risk for repetitive upper back/shoulder injury. The people in the video seem to have to put a fair amount of effort into pressing the handle down in order to raise up the shovel part containing a heavy weight of snow.

Looks good. I think the best demo is the guy in the deep snow where he starts scooping about halfway down through the acccumulation and work his way down. And I see where it can pivot on the wheel so you don't have to give a big toss like most were doing. Just lift partway and empty the scoop to the side.

Could have used one back during our blizzards in the late 1970s.

I thought the exact same thing and with my weak legs I would have a problem.

It is really good on the powder snow, the harder packed stuff- well that is a different story.

Looks pretty good to me!

It looks like you still get a pretty good workout, but probably not as much opportunity for serious muscle pulls.

It's our (lower) backs I'm concerned about - a good workout for shoulder and arm muscles is fine. How much do you want to bet that it won't snow for the rest of the winter now?

It looks good but it would be no good here the snow is freezing really quick its not nice and fluffy like in that video

I watched quite a few (private individuals') videos on YouTube before ordering it, and they showed people using it in all sorts of snow. There's an ice blade you can order extra for frozen snow, but at that point I think people here just give up and spread gravel on top of the snow. DH made it in and out of the drive yesterday and this morning, but none of the neighbors did. I guess their snow tires are older/not as good.

The SnoWovel was delivered yesterday, and it took me about 90 minutes to put it together. I just didn't have the strength in my hands to do it faster, but it wasn't too complicated.

We got about 2 centimeters of snow last night, so not really enough to test it properly. I cleared a bit more than usual (meaning I added another neighbor's walkway) and got everything done in <20 minutes. It's fun!

Wow, you really got slammed with snow!

Kyle, that looks fun (To visit anyway...)

I'm glad it worked well Tricia, it'll be interesting to see how it goes in heavier snow.

Nice that it's actually fun to use. Maybe your neighbor will take turns with you when you get more snow.

Maybe, or get one of their own. The drive (actually a so-called paper street) is over half a block long and steep. A snowblower would be too loud at 4:30 or 5 a.m.. Our one elderly neighbor looked into hiring somebody to do it, but didn't have any luck in our small town.

I passed the link on to my sister who lives in Wisconsin. They have a really long, really wide driveway, and they get tons of snow! I'm glad you liked it Tricia!

So, Tricia, do you still like your SnowWovel?
