The vet tested the last two kittens for FIV and FELV today. When I arrived for my afternoon playing with kittens session they were running around on the floor with the gray and white, other black and white, the two older gray with stripes, and the resident cats. Just the tabby / white male and tabico girl I'm working with were still caged.

"Lend me a carrier," I said, "and I'll take him home today." They did, and I did. (But I did phone home and give my husband a heads up - even asked if he wanted to meet the kitten first. Thoughtful, aren't I. But he said to just bring him home. Guess that's called accepting the inevitable.)

Though younger, since he's from the same colony as Mr. Poe they're probably half-brothers. Can't believe how much bigger Mr. Poe looks!

As you can see he's black and white, with some frosted looking individual white hairs in the major black patches on his back and sides.

Let him out in the guest bedroom and Mr. Poe started chirping to him. They sniffed noses and I think all will be well. What Mist will think when I turn them loose on Sunday I have no idea.

So we're back to needing names again, just for a different kitten.

That kitten is adorable! i especially love the look he gives in the second picture. I also like his perfect black lower jaw and the black on his head kind of looks like those old executioner's masks, with the slit up the middle

Oh my gosh...
I just turned into a puddle of mush. He's ADORABLE!!!

Of course, I could be a little biased. He reminds me so much of Ophelia when she was a baby kitty. Right down to the little black chin. Hers is actually a heart, which was quite appropriate since her heart was definitely in her mouth when she was little!

I will move this to Fur Pics so this doesn't get lost in the shuffle.

I remember the first time that my cat - Climber - gave birth, I had no idea what to do. My vet told me a few things that I needed to pay attention to but pretty left everything up to the queen. I was so dumb that I even asked if the kitten knew how to get the milk and the reply was, "Yeah, they're pretty good at figuring that out on their own."

I suggested Cary Grant (his elegant, gentlemanly tuxedo, don't you know) but my husband didn't like it.

We're leaning towards Domino but a friend suggested Blackbeard . . . .

He's a little cuddle bug - if you can grab him as he goes running by you. Purrs and licks your fingers.

Mr. Poe loves to pounce on him. And gets smacked in return. My study is underneath the guest bedroom. It sounds like a herd of elephants, or ponies with hobnail horseshoes thundering overhead.

It's going to be easy to tell these two apart - svelte and elegant, golden eyed ebony Mr. Poe and patchy black and white somewhat fluffy with ? maybe green eyed Domino / Blackbeard / ?

It's been more than 14 years since we've had kittens. They are so adorable. I'd forgotten how precious they are.

He is soooo adorable
!!!!! When I read Blackbeard, I instantly thought of Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. Then looking at his face pick again he has a clover....Jack of clubs......I say Jack!

He looks like he's going to be quite a handful. I vote for "Jack".

The terrible two get cuter every time I see them. Mr. Poe is larger, and very sleek. Also very difficult to take a good picture of him. I tossed lots of cat-shaped black blob images. Digital helps, easier to dump poor quality pictures.

Domino uses us as a cat tower, as in climbing up your (fortunately) blue jean-clad leg.

Mr. Poe uses Domino as a toy. But fair is fair - then Domino pounces on Mr. Poe's tail.

And I did once find them sleeping in the rocking chair. Not curled up together, but close.

Ah youth. Kittens are just so, well, kittenish.
