Hi everyone,

A few months ago I acquired my first kitten, Sophie, she is now seven months old. What a fantastic experience it has been so far. She has such a character and sometimes behaves like a dog - playing fetch with her ball (and bird feathers) and never straying more than 10 metres from my side when we are outdoors. Sophie seems to love water, especially running taps which she flicks around with great joy, and she likes to play with the soap bubbles when I'm in the bath. She has lots of different noises she makes, the normal meows and purrs but also a range of chirps and tweets which are very sweet. My friends say they have never seen such a confident kitten and some of them have commented that she must be part-breed because of her markings. Her fur is exceptionally soft, like mink. She does like a lot of attention. Sometimes she fluffs out her tail in a dramatic arc, when she trots along it is bolt upright. She likes to climb and can scale the 12ft wall at the back of my yard (its a bit more of a job coming down though!).

She has been brought up James Wellbeloved kitten food with occasional milky treats.

I wondered if anyone has any comments on wether she could be a hybrid. I saw her with her mother who was a domestic tabby cat but have no idea about her father. Here are some pics, thanks.

Thanks for the welcome. She had just woken up in these pictures so might look a little grumpy. Some people say she has got something of a Bengal look about her. I'd like to know what the breeders think. Whatever her heritage though I love her to bits.

Welcome to our community,

Sophie is a short haired tabby.
Her coat colors are quite unusual...
she is truly a beauty.

We have quite a few members from the UK...
I think that you will feel right at home here.

Oh my goodness, Sophie is a beauty!!!

I would keep a close eye on her if she goes outside, because with those markings she could get catnapped. I've never seen a cat in the UK with Sophies unusual colouring, and it's gorgeous

Welcome to TCS by the way

Thanks everyone for the lovely welcomes and I'm glad you like Sophie's colouring. She only goes outside when I'm with her and so far hasn't strayed out of my site but I must admit I'm a little worried that someone might take her as I live in a somewhat depressed area. She has a collar on when she goes out and I'm going to get her chipped. Thanks again for the welcomes, I think I'm going to like it here.

Because of Sophies unusual colouring and markings some people will think that she's a pedigree and all they'll see is £££
Having her chipped is a great idea as well

Do you not fancy keeping her indoors?

Hi Rosiemac,

She is indoors most of the time, but I must admit she does come out with me to the back yard when I'm working in it. I don't really want to deny her that as she seems to enjoy frolicking around and always brings in a bird feather for me! So far she hasn't gone too far away from me but the thought of theft is a worry. Passers by that have seen me out there with her have asked to come into the yard to say hello to her and all have commented on her colouring, many believing she is a breed. I just have to be very cautious as I couldn't bear being without her now.

With the winter she'll not really want to be out much anyway, but we have a lot of members have outdoor enclosures?. That way Sophie can still go outside but she'll be safe

Have you posted her pics in Fur pics so the others can see her?, because i can see Sophie being very popular in there

Welcome to TCS! Sophie is gorgeous! She has the "classic" tabby markings, not the "normal" stripes associated with a tabby cat.
