When I brought Sasha in for his first SubQ treatment, I asked the other Vet (not Dr White) to examine Sasha's teeth. He told me there was some gingevitis but the teeth didn't look abcessed.

To me however, one of his molars looked infected...and I can bet you that's the source of his bacterial infection...looks like a tooth extraction for Mr Sasha. If I'm right, things will improve drastically once the infected tooth is removed.

Then again I couldn't tell an infected tooth if it jumped me in the face...

Passable, he actually gained a bit of weight ( a few ounces, not much) since Dr White saw him last (2 weeks ago), but the food needs to be fresh out of the can, no refrigerated food warmed up in the microwave (though he'll eat that too if hungry enough).

And his nose is very, very accurate...I mixed some lysine powder and some Glucosamine powder (he could benefit from both) to a tablespoonful of his Hi Tor canned food...smelled it and wouldn't touch it. Cracked open a fresh can of Hi Tor...ate about a teaspoonful stragight out of the can!

On the Lysine powder - look at the ingredients... See if it is 100% pure... sometimes if it is a capsule or tablet, it is not... It taste like salt almost. Don't know how glucosamine tastes, so I can't speak for that...

This is what I managed to find locally (and am using)

http://www.vitasprings.com/l-lysine-...now-foods.html

No mention of the lysine's purity though...or am I looking in the wrong place?

Yes, I tried the Lysine only and I'd say he ate 3/4's of the tablespoonful I served him, so he got most of it.

I added the Glucosamine powder (today) for a few reasons - he no longer eats his RC Mature which had Glucosamine in it (for an 18 year-old cat not a bad thing to have), and I read that Glucosamine can also help re-line the mucous membrane of the bladder. Since he was originally diagnosed with Cystisis, Sasha might definitely benefit from it.

glucosimine is slightly sweet and while it would not hurt what brand are you using many of those are far from pure

The Kirkland (Costco) brand. It seems that the only sweet taste Sasha enjoys is from Kitty Malt...otherwise it's a big no go: Vyralis - sweet vanilla taste - he hates it. I tried a liquid Glucosamine supplement - very sweet (meant for people's tastebuds) and another big no go.

I don't mind, I take the liquid Glucosamine, and Tiggy doesn't mind the Vyralis if it's mixed in his food (if he gets a flare-up), so it's not money wasted, ditto with the Glucosamine capsules, I can take them to prevent arthritis and promote healthy cartilege.

I just want Sasha to get his Lysine intake to get over his URI and hopefully some Glucosamine for his joints, cartilege and bladder!

Human or pet? sorry they have both..

It is Not advisable to give a young animal glucomine as some are thinking(not no one has proven)that is could stop the proper development of it in the jt during growth... All excess from what I have read is excreted in urine

Human, and it's for my 18 year-old Sasha, not my 7 month-old Tiggy...

IMHO, since it is really essential for him to get the L-Lysine, and he eats it with no problem, I would give that in one meal to ensure he will get it all.
On another meal, I would give the glucosamine by itself.
There are no studies that confirm efficacy of glucosamine for bladder issues - yes, it is believed that it works... I, myself, give Bugsy Hyaluronic Acid for the same reasons (Sharky can elaborate on it), but it can not be proved.
So, this way, you are taking care of the issue in hand, and trying to get glucosamine into him.
You can also dissolve the contents in water and give it with a syringe - it is super easy to give it this way...
