So I had $10 (two $5) in petco gift cards to spend and one expired today. I decided some catsip milk and a couple toys would do nicely for around that price. So I went down to petco and picked out some milk, a pack of generic catnip mouse toys and I'm looking at a replacement feather for Da Bird. That's when it catches my eye: a sugar glider (mini flying squirrel, check them out; they're awesome). It's kind of an inside joke with me and my friends because I was really close to getting one a few years back. So I immediately pick it up and buy it. When I got home, I noticed that the toy (about 3" wide and 4" long) had not one, not two, but FOUR tags attached to a back leg of the glider (in fact, the tag takes up the entire leg seam). The tags were layered, but the crazy thing is the tags themselves were 2.5" x 3/4", and they stuck way out past the tail of the toy (in total, they were about 1/4 the size of the entire toy). That's when I looked at the package and saw that it was a cat fancier's association toy, and I remembered that CFA toys ALWAYS have insanely large tags, and they always have multiple tags layered. I was going to get a collar of theirs I saw at petco, but removing all the sewn-in tags would have me splitting every seam on it.
Reading the tags, one mentions the toy maker's nasdaq and dow symbols, one only says "Cat Fancier's Association," one has an alphanumeric code on it, and one is blank. I'm thinking it's a little overkill, especially since the person who is going to be playing with the toys the most and looking at it, my kitten, can't read any of it.
