I have had headaches and ear aches for a few weeks. I woke up at 3 am with a horrible headache. I went in the bathroom my eye was gooey and swollen shut. There is a lot of pain and pressure just under my eye. I made an appointment for this afternoon.

Nuh uh...might give me away!
Sounds like it to me! I hope that you feel better soon!!! I've had a sinus infection so bad in the past, that both of my eardrums burst. My hearing is fine and I'm fully healed now, but it took a couple of months before my hearing returned completely. I hope that your ears are fine!

My only pregnancy sickness was sinus-related. My post-nasal drip was so bad early on in the pregnancy, every few days I would spend my day throwing everything up. It didn't matter if I ate anything or not, I was throwing up.

Yep, just getting over one myself and with the same type of eye problem. I'm now on a week's course of antibiotic and the eye is doing better.

I have one too. It was pretty bad and so I went to the doc and got antibiotics. Five days into the course of meds I was starting to feel better then had a bad reaction to the meds.

Was sick for a week even after stopping the meds. Now I am recovered from the allergic reaction of the meds and the sinus infection is back.

I called my doc, Doc called in a different prescription for me to pick up tomorrow. Hate these sinus infections, they just make the whole world miserable with so much pain. It's the only time I ever have a headache, is when I have a sinus infection. I have nasonex and astelin nasal mists I am supposed to use daily to prevent them, but I guess I slacked off on them, and that's why I got this infection

Hope you feel better soon.

I have never had one like this. I blow my nose and nothing. hopefully the steroid spray will open things up and it can all drain.
I have only had sinus infections after a bad cold.

I feel your pain! I usually get 3-4 sinus infections a year. I use a rice sock warmed in the microwave to help relieve pressure. Just pour some uncooked rice in an old tube sock, tie it off and warm in the microwave. Place it over your eyes/nose and relax. It really feels good.

If you don't already use one, get a Neti pot and use it twice a day to help rinse out your sinus cavities. It really will help, but you'll feel like you're drowning until you get the hang of it.

Hope you feel better soon!

I get them pretty often, actually enough to effect my ability to work on a pretty regular basis and I hate getting them. They make me so irritable and make it very hard for me to hear and have actually done some damage to my ears. But I have had them since I was a small child so they have just gotten worse over the years. I have them more often when my sister comes over because she smokes and cig smoke is one of my triggers for them. One of the few things that do not bother them is my cat. Some dogs cause them for me too if they shed alot. I do better with dogs like boxers as the hair on them is finer. You have to really work at finding your triggers. One of mine is were I live its really dusty I live on a gravel road and I can't even drive by someone who is mowing without getting a reaction from it.

I haven't had an actual sinus infection in years (knock on wood) but I can rememeber they are very not fun and very ouchy. So I hope you can get some relief soon.

Dottie and I both got terrible sinus infections after delivering a load in Azusa, CA, during a dust storm.

We fought it off and on for months. Finally, my doctor said that there is really only one way to defeat one of these chronic infections.

He said you have to test to find out what the bacteria involved really is. Then, check for what antibiotics affect that specific bacteria.

Then, you have to take one of the effective antibiotics for 2 weeks, stop, and take another antibiotic for 2 weeks. That is because the first antibiotic will kill most of the bacteria, but some will survive, but the second antibiotic will usually kill off the last of them.

Nasty stuff, sinus infections.

Good advice, though I can't use rice or corn for warm packs the smell makes me gag (don't have a microwave anyway), but a heating pad on low can work too.

I don't have a neti pot, but use a similar type nasal rinse system, it's a kit made by Ayr. Just a plastic squeeze bottle, but does the same thing as a neti pot.

I did have to go back on another antibiotic, I'm on z-pack now. I hope it works, but in my experience I will need another course to knock it out.

I am about the same. The doctor told me to finish the antibiotics if it isn't better or gets worse to come back in. antibiotics are Trimel (sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim 400mg) and nasal spray is nasacort ( triamcinolone acetonide)
