May be taking a Cat in...

Hi All,

I am new here today but hoping you may be able to advise me?

My friend has a cat that he needs to re-home. He's a low maintenance 4 year old adult male who just sleeps all day.

The cat has not been vaccinated and is due for worming and de-flea ing next week...

I'm wondering if this is a bit risky...

What are the chance's of him not being in the best health..

Not neutered, not vaccinated...

Not sure what to do...

Your help would be greatlly appreciated

Have all the "normal" tests done to rule out all the "nasties", get him his vaccines, and then have him neutered. As long as he tests negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV, and he gets a clean bill of health, then there's nothing different than taking him from your friend and adopting him from a shelter or rescue group.

FWIW, due to several health issues with my cats, they're not vaccinated annually. They're all in great health otherwise.

Go in the house and smell around. If he's not neutered, he may be spraying, and that is an almost impossible habit to break. It's a very characteristic odor.

If not, then have him checked over, neutered, and vaccinated, keep him indoors, and enjoy his company and love for the next 10-12 years!
