Just a cute story that I thought I'd share.

September has been a really bad month for me between work and home stress and losing Cotton and I've not really been coping as well as I probably could.

Well last night we'd gotten home late from a friend's party and I was cleaning up the recycling since I was dwelling on things too much to sleep. While I was putting it out I hear the tinkling of a bell followed by this friendly sounding "mew" and this big, lanky ginger tom cat came trotting across the road, up my walk and onto the porch. He just started rubbing up against me, headbutting my legs and hopping up to bump my hands, all while purring up a storm. This was exactly what Cotton used to do when he knew I was upset so I sat down on the porch step with this cat crawling into my lap and loving on me and promptly burst into tears on him. He just kept on loving and I sat outside in the dark with him for a good half hour, telling him my troubles like I used to tell Cotton. He just loved on me and purred until I stopped crying, then sat next to me and cleaning himself while I thanked him and got him a treat, then off he went to do whatever he was doing before running into me.

I know he has a home since he was well groomed, well fed and wearing a collar, but I've not seen him before. I just thought it was awful gentlemanly of him to come and check on me.

I think sometimes our pets come to us to comfort us when they are gone. I know Tavia has, and I know when I got Pixie she came to me in a dream letting me know it was okay to love Pixie. I think God allows them to come back to us and sometimes to watch over us and be our angels

So True...
Such a wonderful experience that was!! This little gentleman listened to you and maybe soothed some of your pain. I'm sure your sweet Cotton had a paw in that!!

What a sweet boy, I do hope as you say he appeared to be well cared for that he was actually neutered and not a tom cat. If he is a tom perhaps as he's so friendly you can arrange to have him fixed.

Maybe it was a messenger sent by Cotton.

I would keep an eye out for him; he might have been freshly dumped or abandoned.

I'm so sorry about your Cotton. But The Paw works in strange way sometimes. Maybe Cotton knew you were hurting and sent that boy there to help you.

That was so heartwarming and I'm sorry you lost your Cotton. Maybe this strange kitty will be back again when you need him.

No one really knows what goes on between here and the here after. I would take it as a sign that Cotton wants you to be happy and go on bravely.

This messenger sounds like a good fellow.
